Five Questions with Chris Chaisson

Who are you and what do you do?

As a professional from KPMG Management Consulting, I support my clients in business transformation, ERP implementation and ERP and IT audit: real-time assessment and SOX IT application controls.

I have experience with risk and compliance services, including leading and coordinating IT attestation and internal audit engagements across several industry segments. My current and past clients include some of the leading companies in the technology, health care, life sciences, software, banking, insurance and transportation industries.

How do you bring ideas to life?

In my daily routine, I try to include time to enjoy others, my family and myself. It’s important to be productive with what you do, but you also need to take a step back and look with wonder at the trees, smell the flowers, hear the birds and watch the clouds in the sky. Karma is real; do something nice every day. There is no sense of self-worth greater than knowing that you are loved and appreciated by others.

My last thing is, set goals! If you do not take the time to write down a goal, it will never come true. Write it down. Work toward it. Success is bound to follow.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Easy. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. This book is a blueprint for personal development. It covers key insights on business as well as one’s own personal growth. The 7 habits are easy to understand but not as easy to apply. Challenge yourself. Read this book and apply as many of the ideas in it to your own life as you can. You will no doubt become a more effective and positive person. People around you will notice too!

What is one piece of advice that you’d like to give?

Early is on time, on time is late.

What is one idea that you’re going to bring to life in 2012?

It is such a typical goal but I am going to increase my workouts in 2012. Ever since I got a “corporate job,” I sit most of the day. I am going to block time for working out more because I want to feel energized every day on this Earth!
