Amit Murumkar is an award winning Founder and CEO of Canvsly, a platform to capture, organize, share and cherish kids artwork. Amit has been in the technology sector for 11 years helping Fortune 100 clients with multi million dollar project/product implementations globally. Canvsly is available on the iTunes store for free!

Where did the idea for Canvsly come from?

The idea of Canvsly came to me after I saw my daughter creating tons of artwork between home and school and the space on the walls and refrigerators were not really enough to display all of these masterpieces. I wanted to make sure that these precious memories were not lost. I also realized I was not the only parent who had this problem.

What does your typical day look like?

Every day is different for a start-up…wake-up, check app stats, talk to team, read news, blogs, always thinking next steps and in between all this also spend time with family and kids

How do you bring ideas to life?

Ideas are dime a dozen. It’s very important to passionately understand and believe in the idea and have a very clear vision. This makes the execution easier!

What’s one trend that really excites you?

Wearables – Its going be an exciting new wave!

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I am very clear about what I need and how I envision something!

If you were to start again, what would you do differently?

Nothing!

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? Please explain how.

I am just starting, so I am trying a lot of things and learning on the fly. There is no formula for success, if there was then there would be no failed businesses. You just have to experiment and learn what works best for you!

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

I am a first time entrepreneur, so I guess I can talk about this in a year or hopefully I will not have to ever! But I can tell you that there are tons of challenges to tackle and overcome on a daily basis!

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

We just had a second baby and I think it will be cool to have a smart diaper, which alerts parents via my smart phone when it ready for a change 🙂

Tell us something about you that very few people know?

I represented India in a Russian Language Olympiad and won a bronze medal when I was 11 years old

I have also been featured in a Vonage Commercial.

The Alchemist –  It is the best philosophy you can live by as an entrepreneur – Dream, don’t be afraid of failure, make that journey and you will find your destiny!

I believe that every person has something to teach or learn from – it’s up to you. Some of the people I follow/read regularly are Mark Suster, Paul Graham, Harsha Bhogle, Neil Patel, Sachin Tendulkar.
