Andrea Scher and Jen Lemen – Co-creators of Mondo Beyondo

Andrea Scher and Jen Lemen  are the co-creators of Mondo Beyondo, a series of online courses about dreaming big and living a life that makes dreams-come-true inevitable.

We are working on creating a Dream Lab session for summer and lining up some amazing new interviews for our upcoming Mondo Beyondo session. Steve Tannen of The Weepies is just one of the great interviews we have in store!

A typical day at Mondo Beyondo HQ involves getting kids out the door and then getting on the phone with each other. Since we are bi-coastal, most of our work gets done this way. Most of our content comes out of conversations together, hanging up and writing and then coming back together again.

3 trends that excite us:

donuts

chefs being the new rock stars

new ways to publish

How do you bring ideas to life?

I think great design is the key to grounding really good ideas. There are millions of great ideas, great content, etc. but without beauty and a simple, graceful form, those ideas don’t land.

What inspires you?

Being on a bicycle, hearing peoples’ stories, wearing costumes, really good food, traveling to new places

What is one mistake you’ve made and how did you learn from it?

We’ve made so many mistakes at Mondo Beyondo! Every time it happens though, we clean it up, make it right and do better the next time. Often mistakes are great for shining a light on what needs to be tightened up in our business. Usually we just need to create a system or solution that was missing, allowing the whole organism to work more efficiently.

One business idea we are willing to give away:

Go in the direction of what delights you… whether that’s a career path or a new way to market your product or service. If you go in the direction of what feels fun, rich and alive for you, the clients and dollars will roll in.

What do you read every day and why?

My Grandfather’s Blessings by Rachel Naomi Remen. It reminds me of what’s underneath all of it.

What is one book you recommend?

Broken Open by Elizabeth Lesser.

What is your favorite gadget?

My iphone, but more specifically, The Moth podcast. Those stories inspire us to no end, and we both have Mondo Beyondo dreams of being on that stage.

Who would you love to see interviewed on Idea Mensch?

Sera Beak

What’s your surefire way to get out of a creative rut?

Go on a walk around the block, dance to your favorite song, go to a cafe, anything you can to get your body moving. Creative blocks happen in your head, but the best way out is through your body.
