Andrew Rachmatovas – Owner of PUBLIC SCROLL
Never stop creating your big picture, and believe in what you do. You should be able to close your eyes at any time and clearly tell yourself what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.
Andrew is an owner of PUBLIC SCROLL. Besides running a website, he works as a freelance digital project manager (at LEGS DIGITAL) and has spent six years in marketing and advertising. His time spent in school and in creative atmospheres encouraged him to participate in various art exhibitions and to finally start art history and theory studies. His years in art academy and advertising management studies shaped Andrew as a project manager full of creative ideas.

What are you working on right now?

I am working on recently launched project called PUBLIC SCROLL–an online space where digital ideas become available for brands to acquire. My biggest objective is to make this website a well-known source of digital creative ideas for various brand owners and marketers.

Where did the idea for PUBLIC SCROLL come from?

It came from looking at my list of digital ideas. I am full of them, and I am also sure other people have great ideas too. I do believe there is a need to provide ideas for the public to scroll through. This is the simplified way of how great digital ideas and brands meet each other.

What does your typical day look like?

I wake up in the morning, and instead of getting a cup of a coffee, I grab my laptop to check what’s new online, to view my inbox and to review social websites. Then I travel for work, business meetings or just to meet with my friends. I am always on track with my to-do list. I do what it says. But I also find spare time to dream. If I have more spare time than usual, I sleep during the day. At the end of the day, I review my to-do list and plan for the future. When everything is sorted out, it’s time for YouTube. (I don’t drive a Ferrari or eat a truffle.)

How do you bring ideas to life?

I write them down and start playing around immediately. I am desperate to check if they work or not–as soon as I possibly can. If they don’t work, I just delete them.

What’s one trend that really excites you?

Individuality in who we are and what we do.

What was the worst job you ever had and what did you learn from it?

It wasn’t a worst job, but sorting dirty laundry made me surprised at how much I could tell about where the stuff came from and to whom it belonged.

If you were to start again, what would you do differently?

I would eat 300 calories less per day. That’s it. Seriously.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Never stop creating your big picture, and believe in what you do. You should be able to close your eyes at any time and clearly tell yourself what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.

What is one problem you encountered as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

I was trying to be very original. Then realized that I need to be very simple.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

To sell 1 million copies of a “my success story” book, ebook, audio book or video. I hope you get that.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be and how would you go about it?

I just know there is no way of changing only one thing, as changing something requires a lot of changes. It’s better to just change your attitude or understanding of the things you don’t like. Yeah, changing your attitude is the place to start.

Tell us a secret.

Which one?

What are your three favorite online tools or resources and what do you love about them?

 1. Google allows me to know nearly everything.
 2. Facebook allows me to know what my friends are doing.
 3. The calendar on my phone. It enables me to plan and stay on track.

I have a list of 300+ online tools if you want to hear about them.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

The Fear of Freedom by Erich Fromm. After reading this book, you’ll realize the real meaning of the title. This book helps you find out who you really are, why you love, and why you act the way you do. It also explains how and why people change through history. There are a lot of great thoughts in it.

Three people we should follow on Twitter and why?

Your best friend, your neighbor and your competitor. But if they are not on Twitter then you should follow:

 1. @publicscroll  is great if you like digital ideas and innovation.
 2. @DarrenBrown is a good follow if you like rational thinking.
 3. @TED_TALKS shares great talks about various topics.

When was the last time you laughed out loud? What caused it?

It happened in the street, after a very awkward situation where I treaded on a woman’s feet and she asked me “What’s wrong with you?” I said, “Sorry.” A few minutes later, I remembered her question and started to laugh due to the very high number of answers I thought of in my head. Really, what is wrong with us?

Who is your hero?

A smart, honest and friendly person.

So why did you create PUBLIC SCROLL and how does it actually work?

The digital age has made it possible for brands and users communicate anywhere, 24/7, in a very interactive way. More and more people use various devices to browse through information, and different brands moved into more diverse media to deliver their messages. I decided that there is a need to show brand owners and marketers how various challenges can be addressed by combining creativity and the know-how of digital media. There’s also a need to indicate which ideas are making the most significant impact on users.

What is your favorite quote and why?

“You never know.” It suits any situation.
