Where did the idea for Creating Memories Within come from? What does your typical day look like?

My grandmother passed in 2009 and that is when it all began. I began thinking back on all the memories that I shared with her throughout my childhood. Then I took my composition book and pen and began writing her memoir. It was taking the memories from within and creating something.

A typical day for me involves always writing and reading. Those are my two loves in life. The more I read, the more I write. The more I write, the more I read. That is Creating Memories Within.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I am able to bring ideas to life because I believe in making a difference in the lives of other people. Everything that I am living today started as a dream. I just continued throughout my life believing that I could do anything that I set out to do. Here we are.
What’s one trend that really excites you?

The way in which the literary world is going. I believe that we are in a season where the best books that are being written will soon hit the shelves. These are books about substance.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I am always studying. I don’t watch television. I consume myself in tons of books. I want knowledge. I love to learn. Learning allows us to grow. I would say always constantly trying to perfect my craft of writing is what makes me more productive as an entrepreneur.

What was the worst job you ever had and what did you learn from it?

I wouldn’t say that I have had a worst job in life. Every job that I ever held was an opportunity to grow. It is what you get from the experience. I always strive in any position I hold to be the difference maker. I have had challenges but I am always able to put the knowledge that I had from previous experience to work.

If you were to start again, what would you do differently?

If I were to start again, I would always want to go get everyone that I ever had the chance to work with that impacted my life and take them with me.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

I am constantly supporting other people’s endeavors. We are strong as people. I do it all the time because that is what life is about. It is what we do for other people. I always put people first. That is how we all succeed.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? Please explain how.

One strategy that has helped me to grow my business is collaborating with other like minded individuals and being receptive to positive feedback. Growth comes from being able to make changes were it is necessary so that you are able to continue on and be able to thrive.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

I would say one failure that I had as an entrepreneur that I learned early is that not everyone is going to be supportive of what you are doing. Once you learn that you have to be your biggest supporter, you focus on where you are going. You don’t take your eyes off the prize. The rejection of what others may say to you should be the fuel that you use to keep going further.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I would say an actual idea for businesses is to write about who you are and what you are doing. People want to know all about what you have to offer. You have to get out there and just make some noise.

Tell us something about you that very few people know?

I am one of nine children. I am the second oldest child out of nine.

What software and web services do you use?

I use Insightly which is a client management system. It helps to keep all projects organized.

What do you love about them?

You are able to connect with other sites that you maybe using and sync them together.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

I have read so many great books. I would have to say Do You by Russell Simmons. I go back and read this book from time to time. There was a passage that stuck with me about whatever you are going to do in life just give it your all.

What people have influenced your thinking and might be of interest to others?

Dr. Letitia Wright from Wright Place TV has influenced my life. When I was first getting started she really took the time to pour into me. She taught me about business aspects that many entrepreneurs have no idea about. The knowledge that she gave me was sensational. To this day, she is still a constant motivating factor in my life. Everyone should know of her. She is one in a million. It takes someone who has been through the challenges of being an entrepreneur and knowing what it takes to reach back and assist someone else. She is appreciated.
