Why now is the time to build multi-million dollar content business

Last week I had the pleasure to interview Clay Collins, the co-founder of software company Leadbrite which is doing some fascinating development in the content space. So fascinating that we here at IdeaMensch are customers – actually repeat customers. Clay is also behind marketing blog The Marketing Show, from where I pulled this bio.

Clay Collins is compelled by a vision to provide simple and beautiful software that allows entrepreneurs to attract an audience, build their list, and generate revenue. And he’s determined to fulfill this vision with integrity and in a way that serves LeadBrite’s customers to the highest degree possible.

Clay left home at age 15 to start his first software company and (excluding his college years) has been a hard-core entrepreneur ever since. He’s has been behind the scenes (advising and writing copy) for some of the highest grossing information marketing campaigns on the internet.

Clay knows firsthand that software for marketers is generally poor in quality. And he’s happy that LeadBrite is changing that by creating insanely useful–but technologically sound–tools that work almost instantly and make life easier.

Here are my notes on what you’re going to learn about in this interview. Be sure to watch all the way to the end, as the interview really heats up at that point and Clay gives some brilliant insights on the use of capital – frankly thinking that really left and impact on me.

  • Why now is the time to build a multi-million dollar content business
  • The best method for building a million-dollar business online
  • How to use video to not only build audience, and how to ensure that your audience is engaged and potentially highly profitable
  • What software you should use for it (hint, Clay build it)
  • How Clay transitioned from being a content entrepreneur to a software entrepreneur
  • Clay’s typical day, why it’s nowhere as good as it used to be, but why he loves it more than ever
  • The tools Clay uses to run his business
  • Why you need to listen to your audience and why it’s so important to solve real problems, problems your customers actually have
  • Why Clay wants a team that functions like the Navy Seals
  • Why Clay is obsessed with capital and how he places large bets throughout every part of his business

Enjoy.

I am hoping to do at least one of these interviews every week. What kind of questions would you like me to ask entrepreneurs?
