Frederick Tubiermont founded the first magazine dedicated to logos and ringtones, SMSMAG, in 2001. He also launched SMSCASH, the first text-based consumer credit service in 2005. He later sold it to Laser Cofinoga. He wrote and produced a family show, staged in a circus tent, called LE REVE D’IGOR, by LE CIRQUE MODERNE in 2011. He has produced several pop rock acts via LES DISQUES MODERNES since 2009 and is promoting concerts in BE and the UK. He recently founded Slowbizz.com, the first global house concerts network.
What are you working on right now?
Slowbizz.com, a global house concerts network and the new show of my circus venture, Le Rêve d’Igor (by Le Cirque Moderne).
Where did the idea for Slowbizz come from?
I wanted to apply my experience both in music production/management and in Internet-based services to the live music sector. I wanted to launch something truly innovative, bring actual value to touring artists and welcoming hosts and not be another “click and forget” concept. I also wanted to avoid rushing and to take my time in bringing this community to maturity before launching the actual business phase. This slow approach makes it a very special venture.
What does your typical day look like?
7:45 AM: I wake up
8:00 AM: Drink my first coffee, read emails that arrived during the night from the U.S. West Coast
8:30 AM: Drink my second cup of coffee and read blogs and online newspapers
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Network, followed by a light lunch
1:00 PM: Drink my third coffee (and last one), work on strategy, one2one marketing and broader promotions until late in the evening
Fortunately, this is not my schedule for each and every day as my occupations vary quite a lot from one week to the other.
How do you bring ideas to life?
Trial and error. A business idea is good only when it gains traction. I love functional concepts.
What’s one trend that really excites you?
Social networking with a purpose (not pointless online voyeurism).
What was the worst job you ever had and what did you learn from it?
Honestly, I enjoyed every single job I was offered. Maybe the most difficult one was teaching English to high school students, but I did it for a very short time.
If you were to start again, what would you do differently?
I would certainly move to London, NYC or Silicon Valley in order to feel the business vibes at the roots of innovation epicenters.
As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?
Learn from analytics and adapt your service/product based on your learnings. Statistics are key business drivers.
What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?
Something that would be called a “junklist” via a mobile app. It would list all the things you want to get rid of for free or for sale.

What are your three favorite online tools and what do you love about them?
Twitter, Facebook and Google+. These are the basic tools of all online marketers. I also love Wufoo and Madmimi because they deliver great service in designing forms and managing email campaigns.
What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?
[amazon_link id=”0752864416″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]In Praise of Slow[/amazon_link] by Carl Honore. It is a bestseller that describes the slow movement and it inspired the Slowbizz philosophy.
What’s on your playlist?
The Boxer Rebellion, The Staves, Fink and Isola and Larko. These are also the acts I’m involved with as a co-producer.
If you weren’t working on Slowbizz, what would you be doing?
I would start writing books. I love writing. One day I will be a writer 😉

When I saw the latest Benetton ads displaying those arranged kisses in praise of unhate (i.e., love). Awesome!

Steve Jobs and Richard Branson.
How do you find the energy to work 7 days a week ?
Working on a daily basis is a passion. I’m a living sponge, always open to new ideas. I can’t refrain from creating new ventures.
What is the real meaning of your life?
My three kids and my wife, they’re the fundamentals of my life. My work is only a very enjoyable adult game I’m addicted to. It doesn’t hurt too much and it pays the mortgage. What else?
