Where did the idea for your business come from?

As a young and upcoming doctor working for a hospital-owned Internal Medicine practice, I recognized an opportunity to expand the horizons of my community by providing medical services not offered locally. With the positive feedback I received from satisfied patients, I also felt inspired to revive a dying principle in the medical community: good bedside manner.

How do bring ideas to life?

Bringing any worthy idea to life requires hard work, diligence, thorough research, and financial means. Being organized and patient is essential for success, as well. I also believe that networking and building symbiotic relationships with other professionals can help ensure success.

What’s one trend that really excites you?

The integration of technology in Health Care has made extraordinary and invaluable improvements to Medicine. The centralization of information has improved coordinated care, simplified data-entry, and expedited all aspects of patient care (i.e. record keeping, ordering, referrals, follow-up processes) in real-time. These innovations have allowed medical professionals to provide an unprecedented quality of care to patients while streamlining workflow.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

Over the years, I have honed my ability to multi-task to the point of it being a habit. Multi-tasking is as much a necessity in my daily routine as breathing. My ability to multi-task has become phenomenally above average – which has allowed me to become such a productive entrepreneur.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to be cautious of other peoples’ motives. Do not harden your heart to mankind, but also don’t let people take advantage of your generosity and empathy. Don’t be so quick to trust.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on?

NC State University has the best college sports program in the state of North Carolina.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else to do?

I show kindness and respect to every single person I encounter every day – regardless of what ‘walk of life’ they come from, what level of education they received, etc.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? Please explain how.

The Golden Rule: Treat others as you wish for them to treat you. This has positively impacted my business success by creating positive word-of-mouth, building benevolent interpersonal relationships, and set a strong foundation of networking and professional connections.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

I expanded my sock and textile business too rapidly without having appropriate safeguards in place while also trying to manage my rapidly growing medical practice. I overcame it by sticking to and broadening the horizons of what I know best: medicine.
