Where did the idea for Custom Nail Solutions come from?
Custom Nail Solutions nail technology breakthrough came from the dental industry. Humans’ nail beds and teeth are as unique to them as their fingerprints. The nails are custom-fitted, removable, reusable, and everlasting. Also, the nails can be painted with any color or brand polish, and you can apply nail art or nail wraps. When you’re done with that look, it can be easily removed with nail polish remover. Clients’ unique scans are archived, so additional sets and re-cuts are easy to re-order. Custom Nail Solutions is changing the way women are achieving nail beauty!
What does your typical day look like?
I start my day between 5-6 a.m. so I can pray, meditate, study the Bible, and go for a run with my dog, Coco. I am usually in the office at 9:00 a.m. and answer e-mails and return phone calls. I keep a list of the six most important things that need to be accomplished that day, as it keeps me focused. Later in the evening, I enjoy dinner with my husband, watch some news, and indulge in reading.
How do you bring ideas to life?
I studied the beauty and nail market and saw a need for true innovation. I thought, ‘How can I make the existing market better and offer something that has never been offered before? Something healthier, more durable, more valuable, and more convenient?’
What’s one trend that really excites you?
The ‘at home’ beauty and nail care market is just taking off. Also, unique, anti-aging products that you can enjoy in the privacy of your own home, which were never conceived before, are now available. It’s very exciting.
What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?
Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.
What was the worst job you ever had and what did you learn from it?
My worst job was working on the family farm. I cleaned up after farm animals and bailed hay. However, this job taught me the meaning of hard work, starting your day early, and setting priorities, and I learned that life is too complicated to not have order.
If you were to start again, what would you do differently?
I would not waste my time on negative and toxic relationships. Nothing will slow you down and drain your energy faster than vexatious people.
As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?
Stay committed to your project. Evolve, change, and evolve some more, but never, never, never give up.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? Please explain how.
Social media and word of mouth helped grow my business. Get everyone talking about your product, business, or service. I love showing how remarkable our nail innovations are and how they are changing the nail industry.
What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?
Working with ineffective people was a failure I had as an entrepreneur. You must share and work your talents with the best people. A miscalculation of launch costs was also a problem. We re-grouped and re-capitalized.
What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?
My idea is to write a book about the oppression of the entrepreneurial spirit by large American corporations. I want to express their failure to innovate or support innovators.
Tell us something about you that very few people know?
I had a successful residential real estate career.
What software and web services do you use? What do you love about them?
I use Network Solutions for web. They have great customer service and creative web design. I also use Activate Software to keep track of our customer base and inventory. It’s easy to use and very in-depth.
What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?
I would recommend “Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential” by Joel Olsten. It is a very inspirational and motivational book that encourages you to go further in your life and to enlarge your vision. To receive something on the outside, it must be conceived on the inside.
What people have influenced your thinking and might be of interest to others?
Coco Chanel greatly influenced my life. She truly started at zero, growing up in an orphanage. She designed and wore pants, and shortened her skirt lengths and shocked people at the time. She stayed true to her vision. To this day, a hundred years later, she has done more for women’s fashion than any other designer. She did not care what others thought of her and she never gave up.
