Where did the idea for Buehrer Investment Realm come from?

So, my company LLC is Buehrer Investment Realm, I operate under a few different DBAs, I decided Buehrer Investment Realm because I wanted it to be personable to me, but I also wanted it to be broad so I could operate different types of businesses.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

My day starts relatively early, I stay up quite late, so I do try to get some sleep. I wake up around 8-9am and then I get a snack for energy and then the best way to stay productive for me is to get out of the house. I have a membership at whats called the “idea foundry”, it’s a co-working space made out of an old shoe-factory. It’s industrial, and very open which gives me a lot of space to think clearly.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I write them down, it’s as simple as that. I remember 2017 I wrote down a simple goal: I want to have 2 streams of income. I got the 2 streams in 2017, but it was just that; two streams. At the end of 2017 I wrote down some goals for 2018: I want to have 3 streams of *solid* income. I have 3 streams of solid income now. Sure, I execute these ideas by researching, reaching out to others, bouncing ideas with friends. I’m a “figure-it-outer”, and I think thats key for running a business.

What’s one trend that excites you?

Fashion, I love clothes, I’m not much into designer items, but I do love it when new releases come out and start trending. I’m also into e-commerce, so I love almost any trend that I can sell 🙂

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I don’t sleep until I have a clear mind. This helps because if I can’t sleep I’ll write down all of my thoughts and that helps my mind clear, then I can revisit the thoughts In the morning or at a later date and see how I can execute.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Always be a good person, and if you’re being a good person and someone thinks you’re doing wrong, who cares what they say. I would also give my self the advice that I struggled with for many years, college is something that’s not for everyone. I struggled between trying to please my family, and making a resume from a college degree, and it took a lot of courage for me to drop out and pursue what I actually cared about. It was a great decision and I wish I had the courage earlier on. It just wasn’t for me.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

To carry on from the previous question: College is NOT for everyone. I don’t think it should be pushed the way it is, and I do NOT think it should cost what it does in America. I lived off campus for a few years and it was tough debating this with someone who pays 20k a year to be there. I wouldn’t want to agree with me either if I had that type of money in it. However, I don’t think people should be shamed for not going. It’s easy for some, it’s hard for some. Doesn’t mean you’re smart or dumb. It doesn’t make or break you. It’s just simply a different route to go.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

I wake up and work every day. Yep, that includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Even if it’s just a few hours, it’s important.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

I analyze it for what it is and not what my mind thinks it is. I look at my business unbiased. Is it doing good? Is it organized? How can I improve? When I can’t figure it out myself, I hire someone on upwork, or reach out to friends who have a better idea. I don’t feel ashamed asking questions.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

Not being organized. This was a huge failure for me. It set me back. For my first year I was terrified of taxes, accountants, everything. I didn’t know if I saved enough, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I was clueless. I started attending a Meetup to talk about taxes, investing for the future etc. It’s opened my head a lot and I’ve learned ways to get organized and stay organized. It helps because its something you don’t have to worry too much about if you stay on it.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Lol, I think it would be cool to take a large warehouse similar to a co-working space, except put all antique furniture in it and then have a coffee bar with the workers dressed in the past. I also think playing old music softly, and having throwback events would be awesome for the space.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

Personal I spent it on a pair of shoes from a friends company. They are based in Columbus and they were so comfortable I purchased them and returned the shoes I got from Adidas. @mcew.co if you’re interested. Professionally I spent $100 on Facebook ads, that’s nothing new though.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

I use www.socialblade.com it’s a free tool to track your instagram following and other socials. One of my businesses I manage 35+ IG accounts so it’s important I track the growth.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Theres many books, I can’t stick to one. Theres 2 key ones in my life. 1.) “How to be a 3% man” by Corey Wayne, this book will teach you the basics of masculine vs feminine energy. I think it’s important to understand women at some point in your life. I didn’t know how to hold a relationship very well until I read this book, and shortly after reading it 5 times I have had a very healthy relationship for 7 months now and I give a lot of credit to Corey Waynes book. The other book is “Power of now” this book is incredible! Helped control my anxiety I had for my entire life. Read this book and my anxiety got 60% more manageable at least.
