Speed without direction is useless.

S. Mark McKenna, MD, MBA is a Medical Doctor licensed in Surgery and Medicine by the Georgia and Florida State Board of Medical Examiners. He is a passionate patient advocate and a dedicated community servant. Dr. McKenna, originally from New Orleans, LA, is a graduate of Tulane University Medical School. After completing his medical training he began to practice medicine with his father while simultaneously launching McKenna Venture Investments, a boutique real estate development firm. Over the years McKenna went on to acquire/launch Universal Mortgage Lending and Uptown Title, Inc. This portfolio of companies would grow to over 50 employees and offered turnkey design-build, finance, and real estate closing services.

On August 29th, 2005 Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city of New Orleans and most of McKenna’s business interests. In the aftermath of the storm, he actively participated in the rebuilding of New Orleans through the redevelopment of low-moderate income housing.

In November of 2007 McKenna relocated to Atlanta. McKenna became the CEO/Founder of OVME a consumer facing, technology enabled, medical aesthetic company that is reinventing elective healthcare in 2018. With OVME practicioners able to come to you, the Uber-styled app is a business plan that is sure to be disruptive in the industry.

Dr. McKenna is married to Gianine McKenna, they are the proud parents of daughter Milana Elle and a four-year old Pomeranian, Ryder. Dr. McKenna is currently a member of Entrepreneurs Organization and he has previously served as a board member of the New Orleans Jazz Festival and the New Orleans Industrial Development Board.

Where did the idea for OVME come from?

The idea for OVME came from working in the medical aesthetics industry for over 10 years. I grew my practice to be one of the largest in the America and ultimately sold it to a publicly traded company. During that process I noticed many opportunities to disrupt the industry.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

I normally wake up at 630am, I then get my daughter out of bed and we have breakfast together while mommy sleeps. After breakfast I shower and then head into work around 8am. I normally work until 6pm then head home for dinner with the family. After dinner I head to Jiu Jitsu training and train until 9pm. After training I come home and work until I fall asleep.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I regularly set goals and practice visualization. I also like to meditate in a quiet place at least once a day. I have found the combination of meditation and active goal setting is a recipe for success.

If you were to start again, what would you do differently?
