Where did the idea for your company come from?
My Patriot Supply was established because I’ve endured hard times and being unprepared is a nightmare. Whether we like it or not, crisis and emergencies happen and My Patriot Supply supplies basic essentials for when that day comes.
How do you bring ideas to life?
My main steps include passion, vision, confidence, knowledge and courage. Before moving forward, I make sure I feel passionate about it. My vision encompasses growth, which fuels my confidence of success. I strive for knowledge in my venture and if the interest is still strong, I build enough courage to start my journey.
What’s one trend that excites you?
The trend that excites me most is more individuals taking the leap in entrepreneurship. To me, this means there is more planning, confidence and certainty in needs and wants out of life.
What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?
That productive entrepreneur habit is continuous learning. Even when I’m doing nothing, I’m still learning, which has gained me immense knowledge in life and business.
What advice would you give your younger self?
I would advise myself that everything will be alright in the end. I endured so much when I was younger and often stressed about my future, but here I am today.
Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.
One thing nobody agrees with me on is that another crisis, disaster or economical fall will happen. This is the reason I built My Patriot Supply. Historically speaking, these things are inevitable so rather than argue it, I just help people prepare.
As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?
As an entrepreneur, one thing I do over and over again is spending time with my family. We get so busy running businesses but they’re always cheering you on. I make it a point to spend time expressing my love and appreciation to them to achieve that vital work-life balance.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?
The main strategy has to be unbeatable customer satisfaction. I learned to create with customers in my vision by listening and learning. In today’s world, customer satisfaction is everything and without it, you have nothing since your business only excels on their satisfaction.
What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?
I wouldn’t call them failures, but challenges. Lack of understanding for cash flow led to severe restrictions in business growth. I overcame it by implementing effective business plans outlining financial goals. These plans include financial resources and investing to fuel expansion.
What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?
A business idea I’m willing to give away is a family emergency planning kit. This kit, not only includes food but also hiding areas, necessary contact infos and tips to staying safe while help arrives.
What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?
I recently spent about $100 on something a special person in my family wanted. It was more than worth it to see their face light up when presented with it.
What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive? How do you use it?
That piece of software will have to be my daily planner tool. Although, my days are rather consistently redundant, sometimes I have a unique schedule and this planner has been helpful.
What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?
I definitely recommend, “Droughts and Dreams: Stories of Self-Reliance During America’s Darkest Times.” The memoirs and experiences of The Great Depression in the 1930s provide hope during hard times. History repeats itself. If we were faced with this same situation, how many will be ready?
What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is “Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.” -Edmund Burke. Although always preoccupied with the future, understanding history brings about growth.
