Niyia L. Whitsett (Uniquely Niyia) is the founder of “K/O” (Kingdom Operation)” a company that provides positive influence with class, poise and etiquette. She is a published Author of “Scarred”, a novel that will demand you to internally examine your lifestyle. She is the driving force behind HIS Style, The CAUTION Project, Mission 31 Vitality and more. She specializes in creating motivational programs for women and teens around the globe, providing an inspiring blend of training, development, mentoring, self-help and faith-based principles to building success in life and relationships.
She sits on the panel committee for “The Speak Out Now Campaign” which aids in promoting awareness for domestic violence survivors. Whitsett aims from the inside-out, creating a better “Person” (i.e. a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, friend…) The Overall Mission is designed to teach, challenge, build up, and give style, esteem and confidence to all she is blessed to engage.
Where did the idea for Kingdom Operation Inc. come from?
The idea was divine. In 2005 I woke up with the words ringing in my mind and I created and yahoo email for it. I was unsure what it was for. After getting in tune with my calling it became clear that it was established to promote positive influence. Now 9 years later here we are.
What does your typical day look like?
A typical day consist of me examining my personal life and who I am to make sure nothing I put out or assist others with is contradictory with the goal of K/O Inc. Make constant check list, check emails, check in with any contributors for updates or changes. Delegate, Delegate, Delegate. You have to know you can’t do it all yourself.
How do you bring ideas to life?
I am very visual, so I am able to fully explain how I see what I see so that it can be created. I am persistent until completion. Paired with my personal faith it just works.
What’s one trend that really excites you?
I am excited about how more people are realizing they have a story to tell in their own unique style. When I see others create and develop things on their own I get excited with and for them.
What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?
I am habitually at pushing for just how I see it. I don’t second guess myself and if I am put in a situation where that is happening I immediately have to iron out the kinks. I am extremely progressive.
What was the worst job you ever had and what did you learn from it?
The worst job I ever had was actually being given a job to where others expect me to be more or less than who I am and what my skill set is. Naturally I am an Activator, Strategic and Creative. Anything that is black and white destroys who I am. I need liberty and love to soar. Restrictions and rules stunt my growth.
If you were to start again, what would you do differently?

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?
Pray I pray all day every day. I pray for peace, grace, mercy, love and vision. I ask God to protect me and I trust him to provide me with just what I need as long as I am in my rightful place.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?
I am very extreme. I often do show and tell. I don’t seek to sell my business. Instead I show how my approach and passion to help others think about what they are thinking about works and provokes change. For Example: I have a project called: The CAUTION Project! This is a book that can be considered controversy because it deals with a very common situation that has been recognized as Okay yet it promotes and demotes family unity and values. So I raise questions and give philosophy on why it is something that can hinder society if not redirected.
What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?
I have failed so many times. One of my major failures was defending my beliefs and my mistakes. This had caused me to be viewed in a light that didn’t match my talent. To overcome it, I had to personally address my emotional triggers and set them aside realizing that it cannot be a part of the business. Business is Business and that never changes.
What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?
Find something to use as revenue in every stage of business so that you can see what works and doesn’t work. This will quickly reveal if you really what to do it for the people or for the money. If it is not for the people you will fold. Also you will get to see how profit and losses are a part of business daily. It will give you a better sense and respect for those you will work with later on in your process.
Tell us something about you that very few people know
I don’t watch T.V it distracts and distorts my ideas. I want everything to be as fresh as possible.
What software and web services do you use?
I live on Google other than that I use graphics team for all my needs.
What do you love about them?
I can just tell the designers what I see and they can develop it. I love the fact that while that is being worked on I can move on to something else.
What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?
Other than my own story “Scarred” It would be the 5 levels of Leadership by John Maxwell. This book helps you understand your why while upholding integrity as a leader.
