Where did the idea for MIMIT come from?

Most large medical institutions get caught up in their own world rather than focusing on the patients themselves. MIMIT was born from my desire to stay connected to the community and provide patient centric care. I wanted to put the “care” back in Healthcare. I needed to be able to offer my services within a patient centric paradigm and opening my own institution would allow me to do so. People seek solutions to their problems, and I wanted MIMIT to be the answer to their medical problems.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

I am driven by my passion to build a world class sustainable organization. I usually spend 60-70% of my day taking care of patients and the rest in a leadership role developing solid sustainable organizational systems. I believe that a world class organization is built on “six rights”- the “right people”,working for the “right rewards”, use the “right processes”, within the “right structure” and use the “right information” to make the “right decisions”.

The entire organization needs to synergistically align itself to achieve its objectives.

How do you bring ideas to life?

An idea is a “vision” and is only impactful when it is well executed. We believe in developing sound strategy and execute those ideas in a framework of teamwork, collaboration and operational excellence.
We have developed systems that allow us to use the latest technologies in a collaborative manner to efficiently execute our ideas to meet our objectives.

What’s one trend that excites you?

Artificial intelligence along with machine learning, bringing in new ways to enhance what I believe is mankind’s mission- “To prolong life and make life better”.

Technology, applied to the enhancement of mankind is here to stay! Sensors will measure almost every aspect of our existence and with “advance analytics” we will be predict, prevent and treat diseases and help us all live better lives.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I am an avid learner and a lifelong student. I believe the best way to internalize this learning is to teach. I am an avid teacher and love to share what I have learned. I strive to make MIMIT a “learning organization”, where every member thrives and continually learns.

What advice would you give your younger self?

A piece of advice I would give to my younger self would be not to jump headfirst into everything. Honestly, I wish I had the knowledge that I do now. I would say to myself, “Calm down, be mindful, and don’t rush into anything without thinking it all the way through. Get to know yourself first.”

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

As an entrepreneur, one thing I do over and over again that I would recommend to others is to never stop learning or asking questions. Making use of available resources and expanding your knowledge to become more efficient is key.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? Please explain how.

Staying connected and loyal to my patients and their needs has allowed me to grow my business, especially since each client feels valued. Amazon, Costco, Google are all great is examples of this model. They are always adding value to their customers, which MIMIT constantly strives to do as well.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

Early on in my career, I had a hard time dealing with poor performance from others and often tried to do it all myself. Over time I had to learn and develop the courage to deal with such issues head-on, be honest but kind, and demand the best out of myself and my team members.

It helped me learn to be more honest and straightforward, which I believe is key in being an entrepreneur. Also, I learned that when you expect a fish to fly, you will always be disappointed.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Our personal health information is scattered and all over the place. Keeping all our personal health information on one platform is key. Development of a easy to use, comprehensive, cost-effective, secure, personal health record would change the way we live and manage our health on a global scale.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

The best $100 I have spent was on “personal training” because getting back into my health routine was very helpful, both emotionally and physically.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

Evernote, a collaborative note-taking tool, allows me and my entire organization to be more efficient and productive. It is our “Second Brain” Evernote has Artificial Intelligence technology embedded into the software.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Dr. Stephen Covey, is a great read. It changed my life and it provides the knowledge and tools to become a highly effective individual and to recognize and realize our god given potential. These are everlasting principles explained an taught in the current paradigm that one can use in today’s world.

What is your favorite quote?

Happiness is not the absence of problems it is the presence of solutions!

Key Learnings:

-Know yourself well and then try to live up to your God-given potential
Focusing on one’s spiritual, physical and mental health are the first step in being a successful entrepreneur.
-Managing oneself effectively within the fixed paradigm of “Time” is the key to success
Having a common purpose, team work and using collaborative technologies opens the door to creative thinking, collaboration and success in the workplace.
