Insight Seminars is committed to helping people improve their lives by bringing them on a journey of self-discovery and teaching them to live from the heart.

Rachael Jayne is the Vice President of Operations at Insight Seminars. For decades now, she has been on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. After discovering Insight Seminars in 1978 at their very first training session, Rachael has found herself with a desire to help others achieve what she has achieved: leadership skills, emotional balance, and inner happiness. Since attending Insight’s Advanced Training, her mind was set, and she began to act as a facilitator of Insight seminars for adults and teens in the hopes of helping them to achieve personal growth and transformation.

Rachael is the mother of three young men and has used the skills she learned at Insight Seminars to raise them into who they are today. Recognizing the positive impact that Insight could have on young people, Rachael helped to further develop the Insight Youth Program to reach greater numbers of people on new levels. Because of this work, Rachael became the Director of Youth Programs for Insight Seminars in 2011.

Seeing the good work Rachael was doing with the Youth Program, Insight Seminars promoted her to the role of Vice President of Operations in 2013. She works under the leadership of Joey Hubbard, Insight’s CEO, an indispensable and highly-influential member of the Insight team. Working together, Joey and Rachael have implemented many new changes and innovations for Insight Seminars including new programs and workshops, all designed to help people live lives that they truly love.

Where did the idea for Insight Seminars come from?

Insight Seminars began in 1978 in Santa Monica, California through the work of John-Roger. John-Roger was a world-renowned educator, motivational speakers, and author. John-Roger collaborated with Russell Bishop, a personal growth advocate and well-known designer of self-improvement workshops to create the first Insight seminar. At the time, this seminar was mostly an experiment but, due to its effectiveness and popularity, it was eventually formed into Insight I: The Awakening Heart Seminar. From here, Insight Seminars took off and has been seeing increased membership and participation with each passing year.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

During my typical work day, I check in with my staff and provide guidance where needed. I also answer many emails from International and Domestic Insight City Directors and seminar participants and respond to the myriad of requests I receive to start new seminars around the world. I answer calls, initiate meetings (usually virtual) and check in with Joe Hubbard, my CEO, as needed. I also review all my ongoing projects and move them forward.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I often receive inspiration while in an Insight Seminar or during my morning meditation and then will speak with others who might share my excitement about the new direction. I find it easy to gain momentum and alignment from my manager and staff when the ideas involve making this work available to more people. At Insight there’s also a great deal of collaboration and cooperation between staff so new ideas are always discussed thoroughly.

What’s one trend that excites you in your field?

One trend that excites me is bringing some of our work to a wider audience by having it translated and Live Streamed. We are working on a new course entitled “Wisdom of the Heart” that will be both translated into Spanish and Live Streamed/recorded for future viewing. We have groups of people in Latin America excited to attend and another large contingency in Bulgaria that plan to watch the recordings of the class with a group of 20 students. Making Insight Seminars more available to people worldwide is a common goal here at the organization and we’re all looking forward to the day that we’re able to reach people in all corners of the globe.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive?

One habit that makes me more productive is setting intentions for my week. I meet with my staff each week on Monday mornings and, in addition to sharing what tasks we plan to accomplish and what support we each need, we also share our intentions for the week. My intentions might be to relax more in my communications with certain people or to ask for support in areas that might be difficult for me. It could also be to trust that everything will get done and we will have success. Many of us have multiple projects on the go at one time and often find that being stressed gets in the way of being productive.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Relax and enjoy the ride. Being free from worry and stress allows one to be much more productive. I’m very thankful that I discovered Insight Seminars when I was relatively young because it has allowed me to be successful and has shaped me into the person I am today.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on?

I honestly can’t think of anything that the people I am close to or work with would not agree with; our approaches and philosophies almost always align. Something that many people in the world don’t necessarily agree on is that it really makes a difference if you hold the pictures in your mind that you want more of. So many people think about and visualize what they are afraid might happen. Do the opposite and focus on what you want to happen and work towards that instead.

What is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Ask for Spiritual support and visualize the results I want more of. People should never be afraid to ask for help or support. We all go through times where we need a helping hand and there are always people in our lives willing to help us through these difficult times.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

Speak the truth and invite others to. Pray and invite Spiritual support. These simple activities have allowed Insight to flourish and become a big success.

What is one failure you had at Insight Seminars, and how did you overcome it?

I made a mistake in how I set up our organization on guidestar.org. I accidently clicked “opt-out” of third party giving. We had a number of donations that people had made on #GivingTuesday and it looked like these donations were going to be redirected to another non-profit by Network for Good. The way I overcame this was to forgive myself first and then I kept contacting everyone I could to rectify the situation. Eventually they agreed to redirect the funds back to us even though I had made that error.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

If you want to achieve success focus on doing good work and make that your priority. Making money will follow. Never do things purely to make money. Always aim to provide a genuine good or useful service to others and then the money will come after.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

Purchasing a series of Hot Power Yoga classes. Doing Hot Power Yoga in the morning really assists me in bringing health to my body and clarity to my mind, both of which are necessary to be successful in my job. I often attend a 7 AM class.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive at Insight? How do you use it?

OmniFocus – This is a productivity app that I use based upon David Allen’s Getting Things Done book. I use it to track my projects and all my next actions and communications I need to make as well as successful outcomes I am working towards.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Getting Things Done” by David Allen. It’s a really great read that has helped me to be more productive and successful in my endeavors, dramatically reducing stress and worry.
