What are you working on right now?

Marketing video is the hottest ‘new’ marketing tool for business owners – doubling your income over a period of 6 months. Most people look at a video camera as a foreign object to be feared. My work is to share the system and training that kept me working on-camera in soap operas and commercials for 20+ years with:

  • Private Coaching – The fastest track to Diva-Quality Marketing Video
  • Lights! Camera! Passion! A Program that unveils the Secrets of a Professional Actor so you can make Marketing Videos that Boost your online sales up to 400%!

Where did the idea for Marketing Video Divas™ come from?

My passion is empowering people’s vocal and physical presence. I saw colleagues struggling with their marketing videos and knew I could help put them at ease in front of the camera so they can sparkle and feel confident on-camera.

What does your typical day look like?

No day is like another when you run your own business.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I’m a creative type, so I have fabulous ideas all the time and get really excited and want to implement them right away. Bad idea! So I step back and breathe. Then I begin thinking about the client and what they want and they need. Is this a viable and valuable idea? Is it going to be profitable after I’ve paid my web lady, my VA and any other people I need to help me?

Then I ask my supportive group of friends and colleagues what they think. How would their clients respond to my idea? If it’s a go, I then sketch out how the program or product will be delivered – Webinar, course, online class, live event, evergreen product – making sure that the delivery serves my client in the most efficient, least costly manner.

Repeat showing my group of friends and colleagues to get their feedback. If the feedback is good, then I begin to build. It’s like building a house. Get the plans approved by the housing authority before you lay the foundation.

The above process is repeated with every step of brining the product to fruition.

What’s one trend that really excites you?

Marketing video, seriously, it’s the most exciting marketing tool ever. One minute of video is worth equivalent to 1.8 million words. As long as you are aware of the words you are generating in people’s minds, marketing video is also the most powerful tool ever.

Cisco tells us that within 3 years, all internet content will be video. I’m no so sure I believe that, but even if they are partially right, that trend for the future is clearly set.

With video marketing, viewers get to know a lot about the marketer from a 3-6 minute video. That’s 4.5 million – 9 million words of information. Those words put a potential client at ease and can easily turn them into paying clients.

Marketing video removes the barriers between the marketer and the ideal client. It turns the impersonal chill of computer-generated communication into human interaction and conversation.

What was the worst job you ever had and what did you learn from it?

A bank teller. Hated that job with a passion. I learned that I can excel at any job – even one I hate if I put my mind to it, but it’s not worth having a job you hate if it makes you miserable.

If you were to start again, what would you do differently?

What I’d like to do is to start with the knowledge and wisdom that I have now, which of course is impossible. It took the hard knocks of getting business off the ground to learn what I have thus far.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Check in with your clients on how they are doing with my offerings. I ask for feedback – positive or negative – and then I really take their feedback to heart. My ‘door’ is always open if they need me. My clients put their careers in my hands and I really care about their success. Sometimes that means I do some extra handholding. It’s very satisfying.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

My creativity got me in trouble more than once. Having an amazing idea that I know will help my clients then going off to create a product or course then no one comes.

I’ve learned to focus a course on their needs and not what I think they need. I may certainly slip in what they need while teaching them what they want and that works much better.

Always ask questions and listen to the answers!

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I’ve been saying it throughout this interview, check with your ideal clients what it is they are looking for. Interview people who are willing to share their time; look deeply into what other internet marketers are doing; watch the stats on your offerings to weigh their worth.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be and how would you go about it?

I would raise the awareness of everyone on the planet about their responsibility to keep our earth healthy. Educate the planet to care for this planet. We’ll never get another one!

Tell us a secret.

Everything I learned about marketing video I learned as an actress on the soaps and commercials and as a singer.

What are your three favorite online tools or resources and what do you love about them?

Hootsuite.com is a tool for scheduling all of your social media blurbs. You can schedule them ahead of time and choose which social media site they are published on.

Haro.com sends you interview and press opportunities 3 times a day. I’ve gotten some great interviews through them. I’m looking for a TV spot next!

Private Facebook Groups are so valuable when I’m teaching a program. I set up the group, make it private so only my clients can use it, then they feel free to share what they’re working on and get feedback from the others. It creates community, which is love.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

The Invisible Close by Lisa Sasavich. Selling can be such a challenge. Lisa makes it simple and undeniably effective.

Three people we should follow on Twitter and why?

That depends entirely on your niche.

When was the last time you laughed out loud? What caused it?

My laughter is legendary. It comes easily and it can be rather loud. I laughed just a bit ago at my dog’s antics.

Who is your hero?

Oprah Winfrey – she is the most influential, natural female leader of all time.
