Stella Fayman is a trailblazing entrepreneurial marketer who lives in Chicago. She graduated from Northwestern University last summer and was determined to work for a startup. She joined forces with FeeFighters in fall 2009 to help business owners navigate the often turbulent seas of payment processing. She is passionate about entrepreneurship, blogging, social media and travel.
What are you working on right now?
I am working on reaching out to small business owners to tell them about the glories of FeeFighters. I am passionate about FeeFighters because it educates business owners and makes the process of choosing a processor transparent and easy, as opposed to the traditional way which includes deception, trickery and inflated fees. In order to reach out to the masses, I am figuring out best practices for Twitter, guest blog posts and Facebook.
3 Trends that excite you?
I hate to be cliché, but social media is really exciting for our B2B business because it lets us reach out to small business in a way not possible before for an online company. I work from home, so learning about how to make that trend easier/more interesting/not go crazy is interesting to me.
How do you bring ideas to life?
I love anything that 37Signals makes. We use Basecamp, Highrise, Campfire, etc., to make our business work. Also, I use Twitter and Vienna to keep up on trends.
What is one mistake you’ve made that our readers can learn from?
Be bold. Do things you’re not ready to do, and never let your age determine your self-worth.
What is one idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?
Computer rentals. My Mac broke the other day and I was left stranded without a computer. Scary.
What are your professional aspirations?
I hope to own my own company(ies) in the near future and focus on doing something creative and impactful.
How does being Russian affect your day-to-day life?
Russian mentality is a huge part of every decision and is highly ingrained in my life. It’s hard to verbalize how or what this actually means, but fellow Russians recognize it quickly. A huge factor also is the immigrant mentality, which obviously many people also share.
