Dr. Tad Tenney

No matter what information you have, how right you think you are, or wrong you think someone else is, the truth is in the middle.

Dr. Tad Tenney is a 1987 graduate of Prescott High School in Arizona. He has since moved away and created a wellness practice in Boulder City, Nevada. As a proud member of the LDS Church, he spent two years on a missionary tour of Argentina. His fluency in Spanish has become an asset in the treatment of his patients. Upon his return to the United States, he attended Snow College where he enjoyed playing basketball for a year. He then transferred to Salt Lake Community college to obtain his Associate of Arts. While there he encountered a friend who was a chiropractor, thus setting him down his wellness path.

Tad attended college in Dallas, Texas to earn his Bachelors of Science degree alongside his Doctorate in Chiropractic care. He continued his education and went on to earn certifications in nutrition and related natural care approaches. Recently he has begun work to earn his certification from the American College of Addictionology and Compulsive Disorders. A whole health approach to treatment means his patents won’t endure invasive procedures and unneeded medications.

Since initially opening his Chiropractic clinic in Boulder City in 1998, Dr. Tenney has proudly served more than 10 thousand clients through more than 30 thousand patient visits. Boulder Wellness has developed a way to treat back and joint pain as only one of many conditions. He proudly helps those with weight-related health concerns, diabetes, depression, anxiety, and neuropathy. His goal is to ensure his patients continue to live healthy lives no matter what the future holds.

When he’s not at the office, Dr Tenney is teaching healthcare workshops and classes. In his free time, he enjoys giving back to his community. As a member of the Elders Corem with the local LDS Church and a father of six, he stays busy. Despite his full schedule he ensures he spends time with his wife each day, works out to stay healthy, and lives the lifestyle he teaches. When they have time, he and his family travel to Mexico, or just get away from the everyday without technological attachments.
Dr. Tad Tenney is the proud Chiropractic Physician and President of Boulder Wellness in Boulder City, Nevada.

Where did the idea for Boulder Wellness come from?

In the first ten years of practice, I was a chiropractor. Initially, I specialized in degenerative health conditions like sciatica and joint pain. When I encountered a severe health reaction to a medication that was given to me after appendicitis, I began learning how to heal myself naturally. As I began to recover, I realized this was important information everyone should be aware of. It was easy to begin the process of learning about nutrition, biology, and the impact of healthy options. As I received my certifications, Boulder Chiropractic became Boulder Wellness.

It is my passion to share the healthy treatment alternatives with my patients and community.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

I wake up daily at 4:30 in the morning. I work out with my wife until 6. We enjoy a healthy breakfast together, and I go to work while she gets the children ready for the day. I make time to see my patients until noon when I come home for lunch with my wife. Right after lunch, I tend to patients and return contacts until three or four. However, by four I am on my way to teach workshops and healthcare seminars. Most nights I am home and in bed by nine or ten.

How do you bring ideas to life?

By always moving forward. I keep in mind that action is directly connected to success. That means each action taken, failed or succeeded, is a step in the right direction. I just don’t quit trying to make things happen, and they inevitably come together.
It’s important to always go forward, mistake after mistake until it is right.

What’s one trend that excites you?

There are two things I would say are exciting to me. The first is the blockchain technology. It is a good foundation for future development, and it holds a lot of promise.
The other is the new developments in the use of electricity for treatment of mental health issues. They have had some amazing advances. One relative was dealing with severe depression and anxiety in the face of withdrawal symptoms from Benzodiazepine. Over the course of 12 treatments with electrical shock therapy, he was able to make a near full recovery and no longer needs medications or regular visits to the hospital.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

Every day that I get work, I make a list of things that need to be done. As I work through the list, I cross off what I’ve done. While I rarely get the whole list done, all of the important things are finished by the time I go to my workshops.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell myself not to take life too seriously. Also, that it is important to listen more than you talk and that it is important to get out of the office as much as you can. Doing this ensures you are more productive when you are in the office.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on?

I would say that the truth is in the middle. No matter what information you have, how right you think you are, or wrong you think someone else is, the truth is in the middle. Seeing things from someone else’s point of view helps you learn where people are coming from. This is important for anyone because there is always more than one way to see every situation.
The bottom line is there are different truths for each person.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

I would suggest that everyone continues to learn. Learning everything you can about your field through whatever means, such as attending training and major seminars, will keep you motivated and informed.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

By talking to people, face to face, the workshops and seminars have established a rapport with people. From there people have come to view me as the expert, which has grown the practice.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest failure I had was buying into the insurance game. Insurance only agrees to cover certain things or specific treatments. Once I realized how wrong this approach is for my health and the health of my patients, I’ve had to convince them that investing in their health was worth far more than the insurance may cover. Once I was able to do that, everything changed.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I would suggest anyone capable should look into new ways to monetize blockchain as it is still early and holds the same promise as those seeking to invest in the internet when it was young. I think it’s worth it to learn it, monetize it, and find the methods of growing your business with it.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

My oldest two boys were home from college recently, and I took everyone out to dinner. It was nice to be all together and be able to just relax. It was the best way I could have spent it.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

We have recently begun working with a company that provides video testimonials online. When someone does a search for what we do, information and videos pop up in the searches so people can find it. It has the benefit of also laying the foundation of trust in our services.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie.

No matter what you are facing, it teaches you how to gain trust and show concern for others. This crosses all lines anyone could create.
