Zondra Wilson – Creator of Blu Skin Care

Getting up early makes me more productive as an entrepreneur. The early bird always gets the worm.

“Blu Skin Care, LLC” was created by actress/model Zondra Wilson after years of being asked “What do you use on your skin”? “My family is from the South and my mom and aunt would tell me stories about how they couldn’t afford expensive skin care products and how they used natural ingredients like Olive and Coconut Oils. I noticed that their skin was so soft and smooth and had very few (if any) wrinkles. So, I tried using some of these ingredients and haven’t looked back. You can’t put a price tag on healthy, beautiful and ageless skin. I am convinced I’ve found the fountain of youth. LOL!”

After booking numerous modeling jobs for billion dollar companies such as Merz, Best Buy and Pfizer, Zondra decided to launch an USDA certified organic skin care line. “Blu” manufacturers the only American-made USDA certified organic powdered facial cleanser sold in the United States. Zondra is also the only female, African American owner, manufacturer & distributor of a skin care company with USDA certified organic accreditation in the United States.

So, why the name “Blu Skin Care”? In the Bible, the color blue is sometimes associated with the commandments of God, the importance of remembering them and also the heavenly calling of those who had been chosen by God to be His people (Numbers 15:38-40). Therefore, “Blu Skin Care” was the obvious name for the company.

Where did the idea for Blu Skin Care, LLC come from?

I work as a model and union performer. I noticed over the years that many of my employers would compliment me on my skin and mention that that was a reason why I was hired. I decided that if I can make millions forbillion dollar companies, why not make it for myself. So, after much prayer and prodding from God, I decided to launch Blu Skin Care, LLC.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

My typical day starts at 5:00 am. I wake up and watch a motivational program. I then pray and read scripture. I then exercise. After bathing, I get dressed and am ready to start my day at 8 am. The first thing I do is check messages, voicemail and social media. If there are any questions, I will answer them. I’ll return phone calls…etc. If there is any unfinished business, I handle it. I then start either catching up on the latest in skin care, fulfilling orders or whatever is needed for that day.

How do you bring ideas to life?

If it pops into my head. That’s an idea. I usually will pray about it. If I feel that it’s a leading from God, then I will work towards implementing the idea. For me, it’s simple. I will pray and ask God the best way to go forward. If it’s from Him, He will always provide a path for me to take. I can feel it in my Spirit.

What’s one trend that really excites you?

I really love social media. I’m hoping it’s not a trend though. I enjoy interacting with my customers, learning about their lives and answering questions they may have. I enjoy blogging about skin care and healthy holistic living.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

Trying to accomplish the right thing at the wrong time. Everything has a time and place.
