11 SEO Specialists

SEO Specialists… but wait, what’s SEO?

We have always wanted to do a feature on SEO specialists, but figured that maybe we needed to explain SEO first.

SEO, or search engine optimization, is a rapidly growing field in online marketing. It is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results. Our friends at Moz have great insights regarding the growth and importance of SEO. They explain that SEO is important because it “makes your website easy for both users and search engine robots to understand. Although search engines have become increasingly sophisticated, they still can’t see and understand a web page the same way a human can. SEO helps the engines figure out what each page is about, and how it may be useful for users.”

SEO Specialists help their clients’ websites rank well on search engines. Not only is it an ever-growing field, but it’s also we at IdeaMensch believe to be of great importance

These innovative online SEO specialists have been harnessing the power of free or organic traffic to help boost their clients’ businesses. Read more about how they have made their companies unique in this new field and hear their recommendations for new business ideas.

Valery Kurilov, Founder of SE Ranking

What is SE Ranking?

SE Ranking is a platform that offers over 35 tools for SEO and online marketing serving over 200,000 users. I was managing a different project when the need of a tool to measure ranking became so acute that we’ve decided to develop an internal instrument to cover it. We wanted to have an accurate data and at the moment there literally were no tools that provided correct ranking information. Since then we’ve added over 35 tools to the platform making SE Ranking what it is today – a robust and multi-functional, all-in-one SEO platform for business owners, SEO pros and digital agencies.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

First of all – do what you like and what you are knowledgeable about. It’s an absolute must. As the actual business idea – I would go with anything that requires subscription. And not only software or SaaS – it could be anything subscription based – from socks to cosmetics products. One dollar shaving club raised up to billions – think of the opportunities! If you have ideas – come to me – I would love to discuss this business with you.

Tom Casano, SEO Consultant and Founder of Sure Oak

What is Sure Oak?

Sure Oak is an SEO agency. I had spent years struggling with SEO, following the advice of gurus, and banging my head against the wall because nothing was working. When I finally got traction with another business I was running, and we got a 500% increase in organic traffic in a 2 month period, I knew I was on to something. SEO is a valuable service that can help B2B businesses that earn more per visitor make more money. When I went from 5k visitors/month to 20k+ visitors/month, I knew that I had to sell this service to businesses that can capitalize on it more than my own.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I think that there is an enormous opportunity for an entrepreneur to create an integration of cryptocurrencies with daily payment systems. If we could seamlessly send, store, and use cryptocurrencies instead of credit cards, banks, PayPal, and so on, transactions would happen fast, virtually free, and the world would be better for it. I believe that cryptocurrency will be adopted — but we need an entrepreneur or business to bridge the gap between the current state of it not being integrated into daily life.

Jason Berkowitz, Founder of Break the Web and SEO Services New York

What is Break the Web and SEO Services New York?

I had a personal training company based out of NYC that lacked an online presence. I was exhausted from the hustle and was researching ways to get potential clients to come to me. I stumbled across the odd acronym, SEO and spent several months researching, collecting data and networking to be able to run my own Search Engine Optimization campaign for my business. Ultimately, an internal paradigm shift developed and I absolutely became obsessed with SEO and inbound marketing. I knew that if I could apply these methods to my own website, I could do it for other, leading me to become a freelancer, then eventually, a digital marketing agency owner. Break The Web is the brainchild of my agency growth.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Men’s underwear that truly doesn’t ride up. It’s such a random concept but something I have yet to see the Calvin’s or the Tommie’s of the world successfully complete.

Kellen Kautzman, Founder of Send It Rising

What is Send It Rising?

Send It Rising was an idea I’d come up with in my early 20’s that embodied positivity, moving forward and upward. It was also the name of a band I sang in! Never-ending positivity isn’t the goal, as we all face difficult nuanced problems and a handful of wishful thinking isn’t going to solve them. That being said, I sit on the Marketing Committee of the United Way of Southern Nevada as well as the boards of Entrepreneur’s Assembly and the Philantrepreneur Foundation, and that is because we believe in moving in a positive direction and being willing to do the hard work that is required to see our goals realized. [I’m] obsessed with continually adopting new business strategies, exploring new endeavors, and engaging in new marketing trends, serving as a leader in emerging fields.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I see major potential in how cryptocurrency can work within our economy, and I think there are several ways shrinking newspapers and other journalistic companies could hugely benefit. For example, one idea would be to develop a cryptocurrency company for media outlets that leverages mobile devices to mine the coin, based on visitor time on site. In other words, paying journalistic entities with cryptocurrency, and incentivizing them to increase the amount of time their readers spend on their articles.

Buy a copy of Buyer Legends by Bryan & Jeffery Eisenberg. Develop 3 Buyer Legends every quarter and implement what you learn.

Alex Simon, CEO and Founder of Digital 86

What is Digital 86?

I started by doing public relations work for professional fighters in 1999 and most of my work was crisis management. As the company evolved, we started doing more online work, which led to me starting Digital 86. Today’s online world is like the Wild West. Anyone can roll into your town and trigger chaos – warranted or not. Angry customers, jealous competitors, vengeful exes, an old DUI from your college days, and on and on. People come to me when they need swift and decisive action to make sure they are portrayed fairly and positively online.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Buying and selling vintage VW buses. I collect them and their prices are skyrocketing in value.

Korey Kashmer, Founder and Owner of Korey Interactive, LLC.

What is Kashmer Interactive LLC?

Kashmer Interactive LLC is a boutique SEO Agency that provides high quality SEO services to businesses throughout the United States. KI was really a long time in the making. With over 15 years of internet marketing experience, 90% of that in SEO, it was only a matter of time. As I moved up through the ranks I had become the Director of SEO at a 70 employee agency. After a few years in that role it was time to take the next step.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

A SEO Repository. It may sound crazy, but being in this industry for so long, I don’t have 1 place that is my life blood where I get all the latest information, tools I should use, tactics that are tested, etc. You have to find all this information on your own and use tons of different resources. I want to see something created that becomes an SEO’s go to.

Karsten Madsen, Founder and CEO of Morningscore

What is Morningscore?

I have been in the digital agency business for 7 years, and when it came to buying online marketing services there was a lot of frustration for the clients. Especially with SEO (the act of getting more organic traffic from Google). Mainly because they didn’t understand what was going on. I wanted to find a way to make SEO simple and understandable by giving clients a powerful online tool. All the tools out there right now are complex and made for the geeks not the clients. The key ingredient became one metric that could calculate the value of a websites SEO in dollars so we could speak a language of “money” and “ROI” that clients understand.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Here is a very specific tip. Systems to manage ISO-standards are mostly super outdated. Create a SAAS tool that takes care of ISO compliance with modern beautiful design and a fairer pricing model (current systems cost 1000-5000 USD per month) and you should have yourself a strong business model. I am not sure it’s good fun to deal with all this ISO stuff though.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I read a lot of books and when I’ve finished a book it then sits on my shelf gathering dust. I often recommend books to people. What would be great if a platform or library existed for business folk to share and trade books with each other. Perhaps a repository where we all send our books into for distribution or a digital platform that allows us to swap and share between members. This would save us all having to buy multiple copies of the same book (sorry publishers) and function as a way to get honest, recommendations. Maybe this exists already and I haven’t found it.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

CFO as a service for solopreneurs. Right now, it’s super easy to go hire accountants, bookkeepers, social media managers, developers, etc. But there’s no obvious way to go hire a business advisor. For example, who can tell me that my business needs to have a core capital target of two months of revenue? Or that my salary as an owner should be set to the market and I shouldn’t be taking distributions out of my business until certain thresholds are hit? My CPA never told me and didn’t offer anything like that. As a small business owner, I have to go read a bunch of books to get that kind of advice (see recommended book below), and it may take years to piece it all together.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I toy with a lot of different ideas for businesses. I think it’s fun to do, and who knows, maybe it’s a legitimate market for it. This one has nothing to do with SEO. I always thought humor could be utilized more, and a group of people that could use more work are comedians. It might sound silly, but I had an idea for an app to connect with comedians to different types of work, almost like a freelance app, but for comedians. It could be incorporating humor for something personal, like a wedding speech, or for professional purposes, a presentation at a work conference. Again, sounds silly, but I figured everyone enjoys good humor, right?
