What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?
A typical day involves a morning workout after I get my son on the bus. Then I tackled my to-do list which can include a combination of blogging duties and real estate action items. I implement a block schedule to help me prioritize and improve my efficiency. I try to get most of my work done before my son arrives home from school, so I can focus on him and his needs when he is home. We also take a 45-minute walk in our neighborhood to catch up and get a little additional cardio before bedtime. It also helps me clear my head, so I can finish any remaining work items I may have before bedtime.
How do you bring ideas to life?
I bring ideas to life by making a plan, educating myself, and taking action.
What’s one trend that excites you?
I love seeing more people walk outside. I love seeing people discuss and share the health benefits of just getting outside and walking. It has motivated me.
What is one habit that helps you be productive?
Getting enough sleep and allowing myself to take a quick nap mid-day if I need to.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don’t be so hard on yourself. You are doing a great job.
Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you.
It’s okay to be friends with your kids. It doesn’t mean you can’t set boundaries, but I love that my son considers me a friend. I want him to be able to openly discuss anything with me.
What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?
Take time for yourself whether that’s working out, getting your nails done, or having a dance party for one in the bathroom.
When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?
Take a break. When I’m overwhelmed or unfocused it usually means I have too much on plate. This is why taking walks has been helpful for me because it allows me to get away from the overwhelm and think more clearly.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?
Work insanely hard. Blogging is not easy and being profitably while blogging is even harder. The key has been consistency and being willing to make sacrifices to grow.
What is one failure in your career, how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?
I never successfully grew the Freebie Finding Mom’s Facebook page to the extent I wanted to. To overcome it I decided to focus on SEO and Pinterest. I learned that I don’t need to be good at everything, but to go deep in a couple of things. By doing so I could build a strong and successful site.
What is one business idea you’re willing to give away to our readers?
One business idea I’d like to share is to consider a paid newsletter to provide exclusive content to your readers. I haven’t implemented this yet, but it’s something I’ve thought about.
What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?
Tailwind for Pinterest pinning
What is the best $100 you recently spent?
I recently signed up for a real estate software to help me find cash buyers across the U.S. for my wholesaling business. It helps me build my buyers list in areas I previously haven’t invested in.
Do you have a favorite book or podcast from which you’ve received much value?
