I bring ideas to life by first jotting them down in a notebook I carry. Whether it’s a new way to engage with customers or a personal goal like a new hiking route, I start with detailed planning, gather the necessary resources, and then take actionable steps towards realization, staying adaptable to feedback and circumstances.

What’s one trend that excites you?

The increasing focus on sustainability in the restaurant industry excites me. It’s about minimizing waste, sourcing locally, and providing healthier options, which not only helps the environment but also builds a better community around natural and wholesome food experiences.

What is one habit that helps you be productive?

One habit that helps me stay productive is staying organized through lists and schedules. I prioritize tasks and break larger projects into smaller, manageable parts. This way, I can keep track of my progress and ensure that nothing gets overlooked.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I’d tell my younger self to worry less about the small setbacks and to focus more on the big picture. It’s important to enjoy the journey and not just the destination. And always, always save for the future—it pays off!

Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you on?

I believe that technology, despite its benefits, shouldn’t replace human interactions, especially in customer service. Personal touch creates experiences that technology cannot replicate, and this is something I’ve valued highly throughout my career.

What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?

I recommend making time for physical activity every day, no matter how busy you are. It’s crucial not only for physical health but for mental clarity and emotional well-being.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

When I feel overwhelmed, I go for a long hike or bike ride. It helps me disconnect, refocus, and view challenges from a new perspective. Nature has always been my reset button.

Building strong relationships has been crucial. In the restaurant industry, your connections with customers, suppliers, and coworkers can define your success. Treating everyone with respect and kindness has opened many doors for me.

What is one failure in your career,  how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

A significant failure was an unsuccessful job transition where I felt underprepared for the new demands. I overcame it by seeking mentorship, studying extensively, and gradually improving my skills. The lesson was clear: never stop learning and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

What is one business idea you’re willing to give away to our readers?

A mobile app that connects leftover food from restaurants with local shelters and food banks. It’s a win-win for businesses and communities, reducing waste and aiding those in need.

What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

Google Calendar is essential for me. I use it to schedule my work tasks, personal appointments, and reminders. It helps keep everything in order and ensures I never double book or overlook any commitments.

“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey is a book I always go back to. Its principles of personal and professional effectiveness continue to guide me in maintaining a balanced and fulfilling life.

I recently enjoyed watching “The Repair Shop” on Netflix. It’s about restoring cherished family items, and I love seeing how things are brought back to life with skill and care, echoing my belief in preserving rather than discarding.
