What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?

My day typically starts with coffee, reflection, and a quick walk before work. The best way I’ve found to stay productive is to make a list of everything you need to accomplish in a day.

How do you bring ideas to life?

For me, writing my thoughts down has been the best way to solidify an idea and expand on it.

What’s one trend that excites you?

In miniature painting, the new trend of using speedpaint or contrast paint has really been exciting to me. Having a quick solution to painting larger armies makes those projects seem less intimidating!

What is one habit that helps you be productive?

I always try to find interest in what I’m working on to help keep me motivated!

What advice would you give your younger self?

Be patient, and always stay curious!

Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you.

When painting a miniature, I don’t think it’s always necessary to paint the eyes. They are a difficult area to paint and when you’re trying to paint a lot of models fast, it can really slow down the process.

What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?

I take notes on my thoughts throughout the day, this is a great way to assess the day overall and can remind you of thoughts you would otherwise forget!

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

Typically a quick walk helps me refocus and find new motivation.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?

Always stay curious. The best way to become more knowledgeable on any subject is to constantly ask questions and research extensively.

What is one failure in your career, how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

Organization used to be difficult for me when I started my career. The best way I’ve found to organize my workload and overall life is to constantly write my thoughts down, and use an organization tool like ClickUp or Asana.

What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

Asana is a great tool for work/personal organization and I use it daily to keep track of tasks and projects that I have in the works.

What is the best $100 you recently spent?

I recently bought a new microphone and Adobe Podcast, giving my social media content the best audio possible.

Do you have a favorite book or podcast from which you’ve received much value?

“Dune” by Frank Herbert. This novel is very thought-provoking for any reader. A hero’s journey with an awesome twist on science fiction.

What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?

Midnight Mass on Netflix has some of the best dialogue and pacing that I have seen recently.

Key learnings:

  • Stay curious
  • Be patient
  • Always ask the next question
  • Pace yourself
  • Write everything down
