Edward Corsello

Make sure that you create a business and a mission you are passionate about and not just a job.

In his senior year of High School, Dr. Edward Corsello of Corsello Clinic of Chiropractic was involved in an unfortunate vehicular accident. Because of this accident, he suffered significant neck trauma. The pain from the injury was so intense it nearly cost him his swimming scholarship to the University of Tampa in Florida. While in Florida, a friend was able to recommend a doctor who could help him with his condition. It was here that Dr. Corsello was first introduced to the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) Chiropractic technique. The treatments left him pain-free and able to fulfill his obligations under the terms of his swimming scholarship. While he had always known that he would become a doctor one day, it was this experience that led him to become a Chiropractic Practitioner. With a focus on the Atlas Orthogonist technique, Edward Corsello had found his passion in life.

Today, Dr. Edward Corsello of Corsello Clinic of Chiropractic is one of the few doctors trained in the AO technique in the Northeastern part of the United States. Many people from all over the country visit his office to experience pain-free treatments that address numerous ailments.

Where did the idea for your company come from?

I was practicing with doctors all over the country. One of my mentors recommended that I move back up north and open a practice. As far as the name, Corsello Clinic of Chiropractic is just my name and name of the service I provide.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

We see many patients who travel long distances to see us. We work from eight in the morning until sometimes seven-thirty to eight at night. What makes me productive and passionate about what I do is the inspiration that people share with me on how their lives have been changed. It could be from someone suffering from back pain and they couldn’t sleep and now they can. A woman who had diabetes who is off of her insulin pump. A child who could not speak who is now speaking. Or a patient who is off of their high blood pressure or anxiety medication. Being productive is keeping my patients and my staff at their optimal health. We are also very productive when we go out and make a difference in the community by sharing our message of health and wellness. Our highest value is providing patients the best care and the fastest results in the shortest period of time.

How do you bring ideas to life?

We see many patients who travel long distances to see us. We work from eight in the morning until sometimes seven-thirty to eight at night. What’s one trend that excites you?

One trend that excites me is watching people with neurological deficits. Things such as dizziness or a paraplegic, or if their sense of taste or smell are off or they can’t move their arm. There are many conditions that have been written off by modern medicine, and people have limiting beliefs that they can’t get well. I like proving those studies wrong. Proving them wrong has been and will always be my greatest drive. I follow the path of keeping a healthy spine and nervous system which in turn means keeping a healthy body and healthy mind.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

What makes me more productive is my ability to go out and share what I call the “good word” about Chiropractic. Many clinicians do not take the time to spread the word. I think it is important for society to know the benefits of not just upper cervical treatment, but Chiropractic care in general. It actually boosts our immune system. It improves our heart and digestive function and our overall health. I give back to the community by speaking to others about how they can improve their health through Chiropractic care.

What advice would you give your younger self?

If I were to do this all over again, I would work with colleagues all the time. I would also say that school is most important. Learn as much as you can before leaving school. Attend any off-campus chiropractic seminars that are offered in your field of study.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

I believe that everyone should pay more attention to their spinal health. Some people believe that arthritis and spinal degeneration is part of getting old, and I prove to them over and over again that this is not true. I also believe that your body can heal through your spine. I am living proof.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

I would speak more about this field. I pride myself on having a business model that gives back to society. We are blessed to have a great product – healthcare from within – that is of great benefit to people. Many chiropractors don’t put in the time to share this information, whether it is in marketing or donating their time to getting the word out. We have to find ways to reach out to society regarding spinal health. We can change lives for the better.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

One strategy is not being fearful of sharing my story. The ulcerative colitis was with me for more than half of my life. By sharing the techniques that helped me to get well, I have been able to help hundreds of patients.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

One of my failures was being closed-minded about how to deal with pain. I used to think you should go to a chiropractor when you are in pain and go for pain relief. That was my belief system. It caused me a lot of struggle in my early career. As I started to see the greater potential of chiropractic to build your health through my own health journey, I gained a new insight, and the rest is history.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I would say to hire a consultant in your field. Learn a model that works for you. Take what is important for you. Make sure that you create a business and a mission you are passionate about and not just a job.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

The best money that I spent recently is having dinner out with my family for my daughter’s birthday. We had my parents and grandparents in attendance. Though running my Chiropractic office is a top priority for me in terms of work, spending time with my family is without a doubt my number one priority across all aspects of my life.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

We did a lot of advertising on Google. I am not happy with the results. I am still looking for a better solution.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Mindset by Carol Dweck. The New Psychology of Success
