An activist in the making, she wants to be the wave that can make a difference in the gender equality. Where did the idea for FM Wellness come from?
Actually it came from asking. I was in corporate banking for over a decade, had reached the Vice President mark as well as a few additional titles, and was hitting the limit for growth. The stress levels increased as the titles increased. I started asking myself questions like, how can I serve others in a more genuine, human fashion? I want to be of service at a deeper level. I started asking the creator for guidance, to show me signs. And within a week, the new vocation of Health Coaching started popping up in my life all over through friends, conversations with coworkers, and news stories. And that led me to shift from my corporate employee mindset to owning my own company, which better aligned with my passion and compassion for humanity. Being a health and lifestyle advocate expresses my core values and now owning a business that was originated by my beliefs is what I would call destiny!
What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?
I start my day early with morning exercise followed by a few minutes of mindfulness, which includes meditation and journaling. Then breakfast, and work starts around 8:30am. I look at my to-do list which was prepped from the prior day and start to check off items and complete my most important tasks. I take an afternoon walk whenever possible. I make at least 3-5 contacts daily through my website, social media, or in person. After I get done with my work, my partner and I create a nutritious dinner and we catch up and talk. I try to keep a healthy balance between running my business, managing my bank, writing, and being in a healthy relationship. Also I take time out for my friends, mentors, and networking. So there is a lot to juggle, but you get good at it when you shift your perspective on what you can do.
How do you bring ideas to life?
By keeping a relaxed approach to all of my endeavors and letting the details play out. I think conceptually and play with my thoughts. This leads me to creativity and developing ideas on how I can make something in my life better or solve a problem.
What’s one trend that excites you?
The Wellness industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world right now. The global wellness economy was a $4.2 trillion market in 2017. The industry grew by 6.4 percent annually from 2015–2017, from a $3.7 trillion to a $4.2 trillion market, nearly twice as fast as global economic growth (3.6 percent annually, based on IMF data). This gives me hope. After all, we are evolving beings, and we have come so far with expanding our consciousness. It is all part of growing, learning, and changing with time. Wellness and mindfulness continue to be topics that we are hearing more about in mainstream channels, and researchers are connecting dots with how compassion and empathy can increase well-being and create a healthier, happier life.
What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?
Staying focused and adopting new ways of doing things. I am a quick learner and I make changes quickly. I observe and learn, and then follow the better version of doing things. That works for me.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Nothing is happening that is so serious or dire that I should get into cycles of stress or negativity. Everything can be solved by slowing down, relaxing, and concentrating. So take it easy and believe in yourself! Keep asking questions, and don’t be afraid to be curious.
Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.
I talk to my creator. It’s hard for any other person to understand your relationship with the creator and many can impose judgments on you. But this is true for me. It works for me. I have seen how my relationship with God has transformed my life. Enlightenment is a gift and I continue to learn and evolve and look forward to doing that for the rest of my life.
As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?
Setting weekly goals. I make a list and cross each item out. Due to my Type A personality, I get very eager to finish tasks and I desire to do things perfectly because I strive for that perfection in whatever I do. I set high goals for myself which are scary and might seem impossible at times, but I allow myself to dream, to ask for guidance, and to let the chips fall where they may. The sky truly is the limit.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?
Being authentic, hands down! I believe that being yourself and owning your actions are two of the best gifts you can give yourself. It all starts form the root of our psyche, and how we allow ourselves to feel in our subconscious is what we will bring out from others. My mission statement for my company involves how I live my life with those values and how I feel towards women’s rights, minority empowerment, and our respect in the world.
What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?
I have been doing double duty as an entrepreneur and corporate manager for many years now, but it take a toll on your health. I was trying to balance my corporate job and personal business, when my nerves started showing me that I was out of balance, I needed to find a solution to this issue. I helped resolve the problem by hiring a VA assistant and got some of my balance back. I can’t function when I am overwhelmed, so I manage my calendar with keeping my personal wellness in my mind.
What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?
Write 8 things you love to do and then identify the one you are most passionate about. Now start making yourself an expert at it. Start talking about on your passion in your social media and daily interactions, and practise creating valuable content for others. Have fun and let it grow.
What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?
I signed up for a writing course for $100. I am excited to take this course, as it will add value to my writing skills. I love investing in myself. I think that commiting to our tasks with time and money is actually freeing, and removes the time-wasting that doubt and over-analysis causes. No one is born knowing it all, we learn by ourselves and from others’ experiences as well. So yes, investing in myself is how I compliment myself.
What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?
Calendly. It’s user-friendly, quick, and works! It keeps me organized and helps me follow up on my commitments. I add all my appointments into it and I love it!
What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It challenges you to think about your own personal legend. It explores the meaning of “living the dream”. It encourages you not to delay the living of your legend.

- Identify your passion, and commit to it with money and time.
- Keep yourself organized, and your life in balance. Being out of balance will seem like a hill you cannot climb.
- Set goals for productivity and schedule, and follow up on them. Hold yourself accountable.
- Ask for help, guidance, and be honest with those around you. Their authenticity is what you desire, and you get it by being authentic with them.
- Practice mindfulness every day. Meditation does not have to be a set time outside of your normal life. Each moment and each action can be mindful, connecting us to our conscience and our dream. In that way, every day we will live our reward.
