John Cogswell of North Reading, Massachusetts, is the chief market strategist of Baystate Wealth. Prioritize and enhance communication skills. This includes both verbal and written communication, active listening, and adapting your message to your audience.

What is one failure in your career,  how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

Mismanaging time on a project, leading to a missed deadline. To overcome this, I learned to break down large tasks into smaller, manageable steps; prioritize effectively using tools like time management matrices; and communicate proactively with my team about potential roadblocks.

No books, just staying current in the industry by attending growth and management conferences.
