What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?
I drive from my home on Long Island to my office in Manhattan, New York, Monday through Friday. I am dealing with various phone calls before I come to work every morning. These calls can be from staff, attorneys, insurance companies, adjusters, my various tenants, etc. I make my day productive by working my four monitors and phones from the moment I get in until I leave in the evening around 8pm/9pm. I eat at my desk and don’t take lunch break.
How do you bring ideas to life?
I mentally map a vision of what I want to achieve and take practical steps to achieve them.
What’s one trend that excites you?
Artificial intelligence, financial markets, the law, and I am currently working on taking a skincare line to market.
What is one habit that helps you be productive?
Staying focused on my various projects; avoiding social media entirely. Not spending too much time watching television.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Go to law school earlier. Invest in more real estate outside of New York.
What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?
Read things of substance every day. Stay up to date with financial news and, to some extent, political news. Do not waste time on social media unless you’re involved in marketing something.
When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?
I meditate and sit still.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?
Focusing on the client experience and never taking myself too seriously. By staying humble and thinking of the client first, you ensure that you never lose sight of the results/objective.
What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?
LexusNexis for researching the law.
Do you have a favorite book or podcast you’ve gotten a ton of value from and why?
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.
What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?
The series Succession. I enjoyed it because it confirmed what I already imagined about how very wealthy people behaved. It did this while being very entertaining and well written.
