Where did the idea for Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute come from?

Where did the idea for the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of NY come from?

Dr. David Matlock pioneered the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of Los Angeles. I was one of the first physicians he trained in 2004. It was an approach to empower women with alternatives and choices to improve sexual gratification, especially after childbirth. We repair and rejuvenate the vagina internally and externally to restore and improve sexual gratification as it was prior to childbirth. We also repair urinary stress incontinence without mesh and make the external vaginal structures more aesthetically pleasing. I also perform Cosmetic Labiaplasty procedures.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

I have two different typical days. One day is surgical or procedures days. The other days are a combination of either routine or cosmetic gynecology exams. Since we are able to do everything under one roof, there is no need to refer patients to physicians elsewhere. We can provide solutions for all of their routine or cosmetic gynecology needs at Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of NY.

How do you bring ideas to life?

We bring ideas to life by first listening to patients and finding out what their ideas and concerns are about. We then find a comprehensive and multipronged approach to helping them achieve their goals.

What’s one trend that excites you?

One trend that is exciting is that people are trying to not only live longer lives but better lives. They are using Bioidentical hormones to replace what they have lost over time so that they can continue to have youth and vitality. Also, by using Advanced Cellular Medicine which is Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cells to rejuvenate and bring back tissue and improve function. These procedures are antiaging. It can make patients look better and feel better. We serve patients with many different modalities as mentioned such as bioidentical hormones, (PRP) and also offer laser therapy, radiofrequency therapy, and high intensity focused electromagnetic technology (HIFEM) therapies. They are all used for anti-aging and rejuvenation therapies in different capacities and purposes.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I think one of the most productive habits I have is Yoga. Yoga is intention based. It is restorative for mind, body, and spirit.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I always learn from other people’s experiences and mistakes rather than making those same mistakes myself. I had a father that gave me great direction and guidance. I would recommend that my younger self always take the advice of knowledgeable and trusted people.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

There were many different procedures that I conducted where many of my colleagues thought I was too forward thinking. Those procedures proved to be cutting-edge procedures in the long-run. For example, I did the first amniocentesis on Long Island outside a hospital back in 1986! Now they perform heart surgeries in ambulatory settings. Ambulatory procedures are part of mainstream medical practice now. I have always seemed to have a very good intuition and insight into medicine, particularly women’s medicine. I think of myself as a visionary and early adaptor. I like to build a “better mousetrap”.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

We are kind to our staff, and we appreciate and celebrate everything that they bring to the practice. Also, they are very thorough with follow-through. That is why patients always comment on what a terrific staff we have and that we have very low turnover.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

One of the strategies that we employ is to give the patients an enormous amount of time to fully understand what their needs and goals are. We want to assure that they achieve their optimum level of health and satisfaction.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge I had to address was in the selection of partners and staff. When you have a practice, it is best to partner with individuals who have the same values and goals. Our solution for that challenge is to choose our practice members with great care. Which is how we have the dedicated staff that we have now.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Always keep your mind open to the natural changes that happen in the economy or medicine and be willing to change course when necessary.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

The best hundred dollars that I have spent was when I purchased flowers for my wife.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

We use Practice Fusion software. It organizes the entire office.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

How to Achieve Healthy Aging and Why Everyone Should Replace Hormones A Review of the Medical Literature by Neal Rouzier MD. The book explains how we age and what happens to our drop-in hormones. It also explains how replacing with natural hormones to youthful levels will make us feel better, perform better, and think better. It is a great start to help prevent disease and optimizing health.
