Ruslan Baisarov is a Russian businessman and top manager. He owns JSC “Tuva Energy Industrial Corporation”, which implements a large-scale infrastructure project on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Tuva Republic and the Khabarovsk Krai; and the SK Most Group of Companies, which specializes in building highways, railroads, bridges, tunnels and underground.

Baisarov’s most well-known company, the Tuva Energy Industrial Corporation (JSC “TEPK”), is licensed to develop one of the largest coal deposits in Russia — the Elegest coal deposit. Within the integrated project aimed at its development JSC “TEPK” builds a mining and enrichment plant in Tuva, a railway named “Elegest–Kyzyl–Kuragino”, which will span 410 km, particularly 290 km will run across the Krasnoyarsk Krai and 120 km across the Tuva Republic, and constructs a coal port terminal in the Khabarovsk Krai.

The SK Most Group of Companies consists of twelve bridge-building enterprises and three tunneling divisions. Its machinery park is made up of more than 5,000 equipment units, and, the variety of works performed by the company include the construction and reconstruction of large and small bridges and tunnels, highways and railways, ports, piers, hydraulic structures, and even runways.

All Baisarov’s assets are not only profitable, but also socially responsible. For example, projects implemented by the Tuva Energy Industrial Corporation will create new opportunities for regional business development, replenish regional budgets, and create new jobs.

Where did the idea for your company come from?

I was born and raised in a large family. We weren’t rich, and I always had a dream to help my parents. That’s why even in early childhood I tried to make my own money.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

I get up at about 6:30 in the morning, exercise, then according to my schedule I study English, have breakfast always with my family, take children to school and go to work at 9:30.

How do you bring ideas to life?

Hard work every day.

What’s one trend that excites you?

Neural networks, new modern technologies, and the speed at which these technologies emerge and are used in the real world, like unmanned drones, which can already transport people and high-speed trains. Actually, my dream is to fly into space.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I can’t really say that I have a “special” habit, but I can name the qualities that increase my productivity: discipline, an overdeveloped sense of responsibility and always completing whatever I started till the end.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Always stay true to yourself.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

I am convinced that new technologies and scientific discoveries will allow to increase a person’s lifespan up to 200 years or more.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

First, you need to examine the project and evaluate its effectiveness by immersing yourself deeply into it. Then you have to do quality work on its implementation, believing in success and never giving up.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

I follow the strategy of business diversification.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

I haven’t made any serious mistakes so far, and I’m sure that I won’t. And the small ones just enrich your experience.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I am sure that your readers are progressive young people, who have already their own business ideas they can share 😊

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

My productivity is motivated by myself alone, but messaging apps really simplify my life. I can hardly imagine my working day without them.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Right now I’m reading Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow, and I recommend it. The author brings up an interesting perspective on the future.
