Scott Yandrasevich

Scott Yandrasevich, born on February 25, 1964, in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, has a rich background filled with diverse experiences. Growing up, Scott was deeply involved in sports and music, excelling in football, baseball, and playing both the cello and drums. His early love for fly fishing further highlighted his multifaceted interests.

My typical day starts early, usually with some form of exercise to get my energy levels up. I prioritize my tasks the night before, so I know exactly what needs to be accomplished. I focus on the most critical tasks first and make sure to take short breaks to clear my mind and maintain productivity throughout the day.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I bring ideas to life through careful planning and collaboration. I believe in thoroughly researching an idea, understanding the potential challenges, and then mapping out a clear plan of action. Once I have a solid plan, I collaborate with others who bring different perspectives to ensure the idea is well-rounded before execution.

One trend that excites me is the growing focus on sustainability in business. Whether it’s in hospitality or other industries, the shift toward more eco-friendly practices is something I’m passionate about. It’s encouraging to see businesses integrating sustainability into their core operations.

One habit that helps me stay productive is setting specific, achievable goals for the day. I break down larger tasks into smaller steps, which makes them more manageable and allows me to maintain momentum throughout the day.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I’d tell my younger self to take more risks and not be afraid of failure. Each failure is a learning opportunity that brings you one step closer to success.

Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you on?

I believe that taking time off isn’t just important for relaxation, but it’s crucial for creativity and long-term productivity. Many people think working longer hours is the key to success, but I’ve found that stepping away can provide the clarity needed to solve problems more effectively.

What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?

I regularly take time to reflect on my day and assess what went well and what didn’t. This habit of self-reflection allows me to continuously improve and stay aligned with my long-term goals.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

When I feel overwhelmed, I step away from what I’m doing and take a short walk or engage in a hobby like fly fishing or boating. These activities help clear my mind and allow me to return to my tasks with renewed focus.

Building and maintaining strong relationships has been key to my success. Whether it’s with colleagues, clients, or mentors, having a solid network of people who support and challenge you is invaluable. I make it a point to stay in touch with my network regularly, offering help where I can and seeking advice when needed.

What is one failure in your career,  how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

Early in my career, I was part of a project that didn’t go as planned. The failure was due to poor communication and not fully understanding the scope of the project. I learned the importance of clear communication and setting realistic expectations from the start. This lesson has been invaluable in all my subsequent endeavors.

What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

I find project management software like Trello to be incredibly helpful. It allows me to organize tasks, set deadlines, and track progress, ensuring that I stay on top of everything that needs to be done.

Do you have a favorite book or podcast you’ve gotten a ton of value from and why?

One of my favorite books is Start with Why by Simon Sinek. It’s a great reminder of the importance of understanding your purpose and aligning your actions with that purpose. It’s been incredibly valuable in guiding my decisions both personally and professionally.

What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?

I recently enjoyed watching The Last Dance on Netflix. It’s a fantastic documentary about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. I found it inspiring because it shows the dedication, discipline, and teamwork required to achieve greatness, which are principles I strive to apply in my own life.
