What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?
Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom. To start the day, I make my family breakfast, try to work out at home or go to the gym, take my daughter outside to play, run errands, have lunch, put my daughter down for a nap, clean, prep dinner, check emails, organize my family’s schedules/appointments and make any necessary phone calls. Shortly after, my husband and son arrive home from work and school, we play outside then have dinner, watch a movie (if we have time), and then start our bedtime routine.
How do you bring ideas to life?
I write them down, to begin with. I will always share my ideas and goals with my husband to get his opinion. Focus and determination. I also believe it’s best not to tell everyone what I am doing – sometimes it’s better to keep things close to your chest.
What’s one trend that excites you?
One trend that excites me: health and nutrition. Learning about the foods we eat and what is best for my children and their health. I’m very much interested in learning how to read food labels and ingredient lists to better understand what we are putting into our bodies. It excites me to learn how to feel our best physically and mentally, naturally, through nutrition and not medication.
What is one habit that helps you be productive?
Working out, specifically Barre classes.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Be confident and stop worrying about what other people think.
Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you on?
I can’t think of anything specific for this one. I like to think I’m pretty agreeable.
What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?
I try to slow down and enjoy the moment. Life feels so chaotic and rushed sometimes. One day we will look back at this time and say these were the good old days.
When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?
I try to take some time for myself, alone. I try to get some fresh air and/or work out.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?
I completed and passed a Digital Marketing Program consisting of 8 courses. I had to complete a test and project at the end of each course. This helped me learn and have a sense of accomplishment.
What is one failure in your career, how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?
Failure in my career I have to say I held myself back due to a lack of confidence. I was afraid to take risks to reach my goals after college. I learned not to be afraid, to come out of my comfort zone, and try. The best way to learn is from your mistakes.
What is one business idea you’re willing to give away to our readers?
Invest in advertising and marketing.
What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?
I’ve recently used Hootsuite which is a social media and marketing tool. I used it to help advertise and create content for a local small business. Great for organizing and planning social media posts and reviewing analytics.
Do you have a favorite book or podcast you’ve gotten a ton of value from and why?
My favorite Podcast is Dr. Death. I find this podcast captivating and informative. I love that it raises awareness about malpractice. It also goes in-depth on the true story and crimes of a neurosurgeon from Texas.
What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?
I recently finished the first season of The Last of Us. Interesting story and talented actors. I always enjoy a great sci-fi-action show. I’m a huge fan of HBO series and their documentaries.
- Conversations and networking are so important in personal and professional life.
- I realize I learn more about myself when I stop to think about my accomplishments, interests, and goals.
- If you’re the smartest person in the room, then you’re in the wrong room. Keep moving and keep challenging yourself.
