What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?

I typically wake up at 4 or 5 a.m. I help my husband get off to work, take care of the dog, eat breakfast and consult my schedule for the day. Three to four days a week, I weight train with a personal trainer, and on days I don’t train, I hike about 3 miles. I have a very large garden that I tend, and several hobbies occupy lots of time: sewing, making jewelry, canning, cooking. I make the day productive in several ways: I make lists to do, I set things up in advance, I give myself permission to take breaks, I visualize results.

How do you bring ideas to life?

One way I bring ideas to life I suspect is like lots of other people do: looking through Pinterest! It’s a goldmine of ideas, resources, etc. I also make notes along with my lists, jotting down ideas as I have them.

What’s one trend that excites you?

One trend that excites me is weight training and fitness.

What is one habit that helps you be productive?

I keep supplies for everything I want to do on hand. That way, I don’t have to waste time hunting for or shopping for supplies when I have odd moments to work on projects!

What advice would you give your younger self?

Don’t stress about small stuff, let stuff go, don’t waste time being angry at people.

What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?

Weight lift

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

Pray and ask the Lord for help

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?

Actually two strategies helped me grow my business: 1. Staying up to date on the latest medical advances, and, 2. Impeccable customer service. Word gets out about both: people want the best value for their money, best product/service offering, results. And everyone else wants and deserves respect and good service. Unfortunately, gone are the days when the consumer is king, and now the only thing keeping (some) businesses in line is the threat of bad reviews. There is a difference between “good” service for this reason and good service because the provider believes in giving good service.

What is one failure in your career, how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

It was a huge mistake to hire friends to work in my office. I was unable to overcome some of the damage they did. The takeaway lesson was two-fold: 1. Don’t hire friends, and, 2. Listen to my daughter. She warned me not to hire the exact people who turned out to be horrible problems.

What is the best $100 you recently spent?

Hyperbole GO, Massage Gun. I use this during my weight training workouts to rapidly dissipate muscle fatigue and cramping, especially in my forearms! This thing is MONEY!!

What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?

Two series’ on Prime: The Unit and Seal Team. These and other military series’ and movies are my favorites because I’m ex-military (US NAVY) and they remind me of my time in, which I enjoyed a lot and of which I’m very proud.

Key learnings:

  • Life and one’s career are short
  • People, not things, are the most important
  • Other people make one successful
  • Never give up, no matter what happens
  • The Lord will always help, if one asks Him to.
