Y Quan La

Founder of Greenfinity

After more than 20 years as a dynamic executive for international employers and clients such as AB-Inbev, Coca Cola, Danone, etc., Y Quan decided to start her own business. She had the desire to create her own brand and products according to her vision and values. This is how GREENFINITY was born. Through this project, she wants to encourage more people to grow their own plants in order to reduce their impact on the environment while enjoying a healthier diet.

She encourages all women to realize their dream, to believe in themselves and not to be afraid. We are currently living in a special time with this pandemic but she has faith in herself, in others and also in the future. And be aware that you are not alone: many organizations can support you and guide you in your steps.

Where did the idea for Greenfinity come from?

I am a working mother who loves to cook. But I love my 9-year-old son, Yanis, more than anything else.

During the lockdown in March 2020 I was finally able to return to one of my passions: gardening. Eager to consume more sustainably and tired of buying countless plastic pots of fresh herbs that never seemed to last long enough, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make my own cuttings. My home was quickly awash in glass jars full of basil, mint, and other cuttings growing just about everywhere.

Besides the satisfaction she got from seeing her own plants grow and cooking the products of my own green thumb, I was delighted to see my son take an interest in this new habit. Fascinated by the plants taking shape before his very eyes, Yanis became my perfect assistant, turning the experience into an invaluable moment of family sharing.

Ever on the lookout for improvements, I then started thinking about how to make the process simpler for my young son, more aesthetic, and more practical for daily life. I created a single receptacle for the parent plant and cuttings with a well-thought-out design to keep the cuttings in place and add a decorative accent to the home.

Greenfinity was born.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

A great satisfaction of being independent is being able to manage your time as you wish. Every morning, I dedicate myself to my family, I prepare my son’s lunch and the family’s breakfast. After that, I devote 30 minutes every morning to meditation with my tai-chi and to taking care of the plants in my house and garden. After these moments of family and relaxation, I start my working day with a lot of positive energy. I work between 8 and 10 hours a day, but without a fixed schedule, because I pick up my son from school and from time to time I do one to two hours of sport during the day. However, I can start working very early in the morning, or continue late at night.

How do you bring ideas to life?

The ideas come up most of the time while talking with friends or while meditating in the morning with my Tai Chi. And it is thanks to a book I received at my 40th birthday “side hustles” that I initiated my first concrete project. As I have worked for more than 15 years in a design and marketing company, I have created a lot of custom objects for other international clients, so creation does not scare me.
