A licensed chiropractor and real estate investor with diverse experience in managing healthcare businesses, Yury Gampel oversees a group of affiliated medical centers using state-of-the-art technology to provide minimally invasive procedures to treat vascular disease. Yury Gampel founded the business, which has locations in a number of states. The company’s physicians have improved the lives of thousands of patients through these procedures.

In addition to his work with these facilities, Mr. Gampel manages a multi-state real estate portfolio. Moreover, he oversaw a group of pain management centers. Previously, he owned a national physical therapy company with locations in several states. He sold the business in 2017. In addition, he was a partner in multiple outpatient surgery centers that were eventually acquired by companies such as Symbion and Amsurge. Yury Gampel worked as a chiropractor from 1997 to 2007. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Southern California and a doctor of chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences.

Today, Mr. Gampel devotes much of his time to philanthropy. He has supported a variety of important causes through his charitable organization, the Embrace Foundation. Irene and Yury Gampel were born in Soviet Ukraine, but have lived in the United States since childhood. They have supported Ukrainian refugees fleeing violence from the Ukraine-Russia war and even spent time in Poland helping Ukrainians find safe haven across the border. The couple has four children, all of whom are also passionate about volunteering and helping others.

What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?

My day usually starts with a good hour of cardio and weights, followed by time in the sauna and a cold plunge. This routine is so good for both the body and mind—and when I begin my day feeling refreshed and energized, I find that I’m more productive and efficient. It’s important to start strong.

How do you bring ideas to life?

A lot of ideas come to me during solitude and sometimes collaboration with good and trusted friends. Solitude provides the quiet space to reflect and let my thoughts flow freely; collaborating with friends gives me different perspectives and that back-and-forth dialogue that can help me refine my ideas.

When an idea takes shape, I draw it out on the white board and then it’s go time. Once an idea is brewing in my mind, I won’t stop until execution.

What’s one trend that excites you?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is exciting because it has so much potential to change and improve our lives. It’s revolutionizing almost every industry. However, it’s scary and exciting all at once. It raises big questions about ethics, privacy, limitations, and where it stands relative to human creativity and decision-making.

What is one habit that helps you be productive?

One habit that helps me be productive is getting my exercise in, no matter how busy the day is. Exercise is an excellent form of stress relief, it gives you energy, and it helps you sleep. It’s one of the best things you can do to take care of your body.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Some advice I would give my younger self and my kids is, “Fall down 10 times, but get up 11.” Life will always take you for a spin—you can’t control everything it throws at you, and you’ll inevitably make mistakes. Failure and bad things happen, but it’s your reaction that matters. How you respond to adversity shows your true character because it helps you develop perseverance and grit. If you give up, you’ll never find success.

Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you on?

Time doesn’t exist; only the moments we are in exist. The rest is agony.

What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?

Practice being in “the now.” Don’t get distracted with what happened before or what will come tomorrow. This is what brings misery and anxiety. Live in the present.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

When I am overwhelmed or unfocused, I try to observe my thoughts and then move them aside. Nothing matters but what’s right in front of you. This practice helps me separate myself from mental clutter and regain a sense of clarity. It helps me channel my energy into what’s tangible and actionable, rather than getting caught up in distractions or worries beyond my control.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?

The one strategy that helped me grow my business is being a risk taker. I am huge believer in “no risk, no reward.” No entrepreneur ever was only investing in CDs. You can’t always play it safe or stick to the status quo—success comes from stepping outside your comfort zone and pursuing opportunities that might feel uncertain or even intimidating.

What is one failure in your career,  how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

I overcame failures in my career and business by not seeing them as failures, but as lessons. Every so-called failure is an opportunity to reflect on what happened, confront your mistakes honestly, and think about what you would do differently. Failure also builds resilience—it teaches you to get up, dust yourself off, and try again with a different strategy. Remember, it’s not really losing if we are learning. Everything in life is a lesson, and when one door closes, the next will open if you let it.

What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

One piece of software that helps me be productive is Dropbox. I am really bad with filing and paperwork in general, so this keeps me organized and decluttered. Dropbox allows me to store my files digitally in one searchable location that’s accessible wherever I might be. It also has a sharing feature so I can instantly share documents, contracts, and other files with colleagues. Overall, it’s a much better alternative to messy stack of papers or cluttered filing cabinet.

Do you have a favorite book or podcast you’ve gotten a ton of value from and why?

I listen to a lot of financial, political, and wellness podcasts. They’re a easy way to stay up-to-date with the news and business trends, gain knowledge, and find both personal and professional inspiration and motivation. My favorite book is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It delves into mindfulness and explores how removing yourself from past regrets and worries about the future can lead to a more fulfilling, peaceful existence. This book has been really useful in shaping how I approach challenges and how I cultivate mental discipline. I recommend it to everyone.

What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?

One of my favorite under-the-radar movies is Everything Is Illuminated. It’s very personal to me as it follows a character back to Ukraine to find his Jewish roots and family that were murdered during the Holocaust. It’s incredibly well-acted and heartfelt. It touches on universal themes like identity, family, grief, collective memory, and healing.
