What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?
I start each day by prioritizing upcoming deliverables and client communications. I manage a team of six to eight accountants, ensuring workloads are properly allocated so the team stays engaged and efficient. My focus is always on delivering high-quality final products and maintaining strong client relationships.
How do you bring ideas to life?
Ideas become actionable when grounded in knowledge and experience. I make it a priority to stay current with accounting and tax regulatory changes, which often spark new opportunities for clients. Combined with my historical experience handling complex matters, this perspective allows me to anticipate challenges, identify solutions, and implement ideas effectively.
What’s one trend that excites you?
The trend of providing consistent, timely, and value-added service to clients excites me most. Watching businesses grow and evolve from start-up to exit—and being able to guide them through each stage—brings tremendous professional satisfaction.
What is one habit that helps you be productive?
Staying grounded in my family life is a driving force for my productivity. Spending quality time with my children motivates me to work hard, grow in my career, and remain focused on the bigger picture.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Days may feel long, but years are short. Enjoy each moment, embrace opportunities, and don’t be afraid to take risks while you can.
Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you on?
I believe that results don’t always have to be immediate to be meaningful. Some of the most impactful outcomes take time, patience, and persistence to materialize. I wouldn’t say “nobody” agrees with me, but it seems as though younger generations often get too caught up on seeking immediate results.
What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?
Commit to learning something new every day. Growth comes from curiosity, and fulfillment comes from enjoying what you do. When you love the work, it never feels like “just a job.”
When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?
I take a step back and reconnect with what matters most—my family and long-term goals. Refocusing on the bigger picture restores my motivation and clarity.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?
Providing value-added services. While compliance work like timely filings is essential, what sets me apart is a deep understanding of my clients’ businesses and personal financial goals. By analyzing results and identifying savings opportunities, I deliver insights that clients truly value.
What is one failure in your career, how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?
While I can’t point to a single major failure, one area that took time to develop was effective client communication. I learned that knowing what to say—and equally, what not to say—is critical. Honesty and humility go a long way. If you don’t know something, admit it and find the answer. Trust is lost when you try to overstate your knowledge.
What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?
Practice Engine. It helps me monitor staff performance, manage engagement progress, and keep teams aligned with deadlines.
Do you have a favorite book or podcast you’ve gotten a ton of value from and why?
How to Win Friends & Influence People. Technical skills only take you so far—success comes from learning how to positively influence others, build trust, and motivate teams. This book shaped the way I lead and interact with colleagues and clients.
What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?
Peaky Blinders. I enjoyed the depth of the storyline and character development. It’s also a powerful reminder that success and wealth don’t necessarily equate to fulfillment.
