Where did the idea for your company come from?

I have always had a passion for anything about self improvement and development. I love knowing that we all have the power inside of ourselves to change our bodies, minds, and lives. The work I do found me. I was a part-time bookkeeper at the PSYCH-K Centre International and knew deep down that it was in my path to learn the work and use it to improve my life and the lives of others.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

As a busy mom to two teenage boys, the wife of a political leader, and a woman with her own business, I have very clear office hours and defined times when I’m working. Everything, from meeting with clients, networking, marketing, and doing other business activities (emails, finances, strategic planning, continuing education, etc.) has a place on my schedule. I put my all into everything I do, so when I am not working, I can fully be present for my life, my family, my community and myself. I love to work hard and I love to completely shut it all down. If I don’t have a schedule, I get burned out. Now I fully am present for both business and life!

How do you bring ideas to life?

The birth of my ideas usually come to me through my meditation practice, when I’m out in nature, and in times of silence. Once I have the ideas, the rest of the details are easy! I’ve learned from listening and observing so many other successful business owners, and implement my ideas based on inspiration and practical teachings from them.

I have found that using PSYCH-K to change my own beliefs, ideas and how to implement them in a unique and structured way, naturally come. I can get rid of old patterns and stuck thinking and bring the most creative ideas to life.

What’s one trend that excites you?

The rise in people who want to change their consciousness so they can improve their lives, their communities, and the world we live in. I am most excited about the trend of people who are more self aware, who see their flaws and want to change them. The better and more self aware we are as humans, the better we are able to help others and the world as a whole to be a better place.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I plan ahead so I can avoid surprises that may derail me. Using my Google calendar keeps me on track.

What advice would you give your younger self?

When you are taking time for yourself, be 100% in it and leave the guilt behind. When you are with your children, be 100% with them and stop checking your phone. Make the effort to spend time with your husband and do what it takes to feel like a woman and a wife. When you are working, be 100% focused and stick with the activities that are going to make the biggest difference for your bottom line.

Multitasking causes you make mistakes, do a half-assed job at everything you do, and you’re not there for your family or for yourself. You need to care about how you feel. Busyness is a belief that you need to do it all yourself. Your family and your kids feel it. You feel it. Be all there or don’t.

When we find ourselves multitasking, it’s really that we are covering up deep seated issues. It’s usually due to a self worth issue, and the bottom line is, you don’t have to prove yourself.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

A successful relationship isn’t where each partner meets the other halfway or splits the efforts and responsibilities 50/50. It’s 100/100. Some days, you’ll give 100% and others won’t. It’s not about them. It’s about YOU and who you want to be, have and do. And when you show up and give 100%, you can be, have, and do anything you want at a lot faster of a pace than most people.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Get intimate with your finances. Know how much you are spending, what you’re spending it on, how much you are making, and if you feel like you’re not making enough, you need to get in touch with a professional.

Money problems are either a lack of control of your financial books, or there are beliefs that you have about money that are keeping you stuck. People don’t often think that mindset and ingrained beliefs can prevent you from making money, but just like people who win the lottery, then go broke – if you don’t understand how to manage your money, your behaviors around money, and beliefs around your own self worth, you will never have money no matter how much you make.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

It’s a system – have one message, one service, and always be marketing. As a creative entrepreneur, you may have a million ideas and they may all be great – but in order to really be successful in something – know your niche, the target audience you serve and speak to, and then go deep. Marketing is a full time job and especially if you don’t have a team yet to support you, focus on what you do best and do your best! Roll your sleeves up, get dirty, don’t fight back the tears – A good cry is so healing- , and never give up!

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

I spent a lot of money on the wrong coaches. For years it felt like a failure to waste all of that money with very little results. It was a huge expense and regret, but looking back, it actually helped me become who I am today. As a child I wasn’t allowed to take a big risks and make big mistakes (especially ones that show vulnerability and lead to embarrassment) – so I thought someone else could help me get to where I wanted instead of trusting my own instincts.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Rent a Man – your knight in shining armor that will come and fix stuff in your house, mow your lawn, listen to you talk, and take you out to dinner.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

I recently tried some new essential oils from Young Living to support my energy & vitality. I am an avid herbalist and apothecarist, and as a business owner and a mom, managing your energy and stabilizing your moods is high priority.

I use it during certain times of the month, for focus when I work with clients, transitioning from work mode to family mode, and then to relax before bed to go to sleep.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

Google Calendar. I’m able to block off time for all the important things in my life (family time, trips to the dentist, personal development time, and work time). It interfaces with my scheduling program so that clients and prospective clients book during my office hours when I’m most alert & energetic, so I can support them in the highest way possible.

It brings me comfort and certainty to know that I have enough time to get my client work done, and schedule my personal time.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Think and Grow Rich was written by Napoleon Hill in 1937 and has been called the “Granddaddy of All Motivational Literature.” The book is said to be the result of more than twenty years of study of many individuals who had amassed personal fortunes and essentially is the evergreen secret of money-making (and more). It is said that people such as Oprah Winfrey and Bob Proctor – to name just a few – have read and applied the principles in the book which helped them to achieve their fortunes.

My biggest takeaway from it was to really narrow down what you want and the power of repeating it to yourself. In the beginning you will not believe it can happen, but eventually, if you stick with it and keep repeating it, your life WILL change.
