Where did the idea for come from?

I came up with the name ‘PlumHill,’ because I have always loved the color plum and we lived in an old farm house on a hill in Idaho when we were putting the line together. Also, as a kid, I loved the Santa Rosa plum from Northern California (where I grew up).

What does your typical day look like?

In the beginning of the day, I spend time checking all of my emails. Then I fill orders and start working on the products.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I spend time contemplating whether my ideas are a great fit for my product line, then the fun begins.

What’s one trend that really excites you?

One trend that really excites me is experiential, word-of-mouth marketing at trade shows. I love meeting new people at these shows and introducing them to the PlumHill product line.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I absolutely love the process of launching a new product. It is exhilarating and pushes me to keep expanding the PlumHill line further and further. Also, I am consistently motivated whenever a new spa comes on board with a nice large order.

What was the worst job you ever had and what did you learn from it?

I don’t really have a ‘worst job,’ but I did learn a lot from the people in the jobs I didn’t care for. I learned how important it is to take care of your employees, as they are the people who will help your business grow and reach new heights of success.

If you were to start again, what would you do differently?

I would take more classes in business and step out there from the get go!

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? Please explain how.

When I first started doing markets, I realized how important it is to get ‘OUT THERE,’ meet people, and have them try my products. We now take any opportunity that is given to us to introduce PlumHill pure body essentials to new customers.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

I don’t call any instances a ‘failure,’ as I consider all of them learning experiences that had to be a part of my journey.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

A great business would be a professional mentor that you can always go to for advice for your business.

One thing that people might not know is that my feelings get hurt very easily.

What software and web services do you use? What do you love about them?

I use Big Commerce for my website, because I can do a lot of the changes on my own without having to pay someone to do them.

What people have influenced your thinking and might be of interest to others?

One person who has greatly influenced my thinking is my mother. She is such an inspiration, as she is a very strong and independent person.
