Jeff Roscher

Founder/CEO of eWorkOrders

Jeff Roscher is the Founder and CEO of Information Professionals, Inc. (eWorkOrders), providing state-of-the-art Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software. eWorkOrders offers a cost-effective groundbreaking reliable web-based CMMS software platform to help increase uptime with a seamless integration of maintenance devices, data and systems. Their team of professionals has extensive experience in quickly and efficiently setting up and supporting a diverse range of global customers across all industries.

After getting his MBA at Rutgers University, he started out his career with one of the largest Pharmaceutical companies in NJ as a Sr. Systems Analyst. Jeff enjoyed his time at the Pharmaceutical company, especially working with the technology he loves. But as with any large company the ability to be creative was restricted. Through his research and interaction with others, he saw that businesses were continually struggling with the management of work orders, repairs, their facilities and equipment, but they didn’t have the knowledge or the budget to keep up with technology.

Jeff’s tech-savvy entrepreneurship and passion took him to his next venture in his life with the development of a software solution that would help businesses easily manage their maintenance operations at a very affordable price. He wanted to be able to provide users with a software solution that was not complicated, but easy to use from anywhere. He wanted to be able to continue to develop the software to fit into any organization while staying ahead of technology trends and wanted to be the highest-rated provider of this technology. Jeff discussed his idea with his brother Brian, who is also tech-savvy, into joining him in the development of a new company and software. They both decided to leave their high-tech jobs and follow their passion and eWorkOrders Computerized Maintenance Management System Software was created.

Jeff’s unique technology vision focuses on customer success and continually finds ways to deliver the best maintenance software tools to help professionals work smarter and more efficiently. He continues to enhance and streamline their software, providing a user friendly platform that meets the requirements of current and future customers . He has set up hundreds of clients since the 1990’s. Today, customers continually give them 5 Stars making eWorkOrders one of the Highest Rated CMMS software providers with excellent guidance and customer support at a very affordable price!

Where did the idea for eWorkOrders come from?

Before developing eWorkOrders I worked for one of the largest Pharmaceutical companies in NJ as a Sr. Systems Analyst. Working for large companies, you only get partial control over your projects and the time constraints of multiple projects limits the ability to do something really amazing. My tech-savvy entrepreneurship and passion to create a software solution that I was completely in charge of developing started me on my way to the development of eWorkOrders CMMS software solution. Now businesses of any size can afford to easily manage their maintenance and facilities through one centralized database from anywhere.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

Being the owner of a rapidly growing company, there is no typical day. The majority of my time is focused on short term, tactical issues, long-term goals and responding to those “unique” business applications that are customer specific. With the ultimate objective of providing the highest quality software solution.

Fortunately, having an experienced staff who has been with me for years, makes running the business a lot easier. My brother Brian is my partner in crime and manages the technical team. I meet with him daily to discuss the team’s daily interactions, strategies and the development of new tools to further enhance our service offer.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I listen to the needs of my customers, do research on what is going on in the industry, have team discussions, and logically come up with a course of action that will help resolve issues or improve processes.

Being the developer of eWorkOrders, I have the capability and flexibility to trial and implement new ideas and execute them without hesitation. Many times, I will create a new tool and ask current customers to trial them and provide feedback. New ideas and tools can be added quickly.

What’s one trend that excites you?

Over the years we’ve seen more and more people starting to embrace CMMS software. They are migrating from spreadsheets or other systems to CMMS software to manage their facilities and maintenance operations. As industry demands grow to improve processes, work faster, beat the competition and be the best, so do the need to create more innovative tools. It is exciting to be a part of today’s technology that continues to grow and provides you with challenges to keep up with the demanding technology needs.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

Carving out “me” time and spending quality time with family and friends to recharge. To be productive you need to take a break and step away from all of the activities going on throughout the day. It is important to spend time with your family and friends who continue to support you in your venture. Taking care of yourself, have proper nutrition, exercise, read and spend time to relax.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell a younger me to believe in yourself, don’t hesitate, take the risk and start building your business earlier.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

A successful business is built on the contribution of the entire team, but it is really important for the person at the top to be willing to step into any role of the company on any given day. You need to get into the trenches rather than just telling everyone what to do.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Continue to build and improve your business, read and keep up with technology, market trends, competitors, etc.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

I treat my customers like family and every customer is treated like they are Number 1. While I am on the phone with a customer or potential client, they have my devoted attention and I provide them with answers to their questions no matter how small or how large. They are my priority.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

When I was first starting out in the business, I thought that our services would be perfect for local government. This was due to their tight budgets and need to manage large amounts of assets, maintenance and people. I spent years targeting these clients specifically. While our software is a great fit for these types of clients and we have many clients that get a tremendous benefit out of eWorkOrders, I really misread the difficulties in dealing with government and the lack of desire many of these organizations to have any kind of controls in place or their desire to be more efficient.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I think that the world could really use a Bluetooth car seat for infants and children. It should sync with a parent’s phone and if the parent left the child in the car and went out of range, it would set off an alarm. I believe this could save the lives of many small children that are accidentally left behind when a bleary-eyed parent goes to work.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

The best $100 I recently spent was buying my wife flowers and valentine’s day gifts. Keeping her happy pays off better than anything I know.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

Between websites and marketing materials, we purchase a lot of images, which can be very expensive. We found this company called 123RF.com, they offer stock images at a very reasonable price.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Good to Great by Jim Collins. This book describes how companies transition from being good companies to great companies and breaking through the barriers that hold them back from greatness.

What is your favorite quote?

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it”. – Steve Jobs
