What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?
Typical day starts with looking at the patient appointment list for NY Spine Care Interventional Pain Management and mentally preparing for the work day. I try to reflect on what I can do to best help in making a proper diagnosis and plan for the different pain problems. I make sure to remind myself and the office staff that empathy and bedside manner are essential in providing the best care for our patients.
How do you bring ideas to life?
For me a to do list is a must. I make sure to focus on the big picture while performing small tasks to make sure the final product or idea comes to fruition.
What’s one trend that excites you?
Medical technology and treatment options continue to expand. What advice would you give your younger self?
Enjoy the journey more. Focussing on the final goal is important, but sometimes look back once in a while to observe the path that you have taken. Make sure to enjoy the journey towards your goal and remember that the path to success is not a straight line.
What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?
Having a healthy mind and body is important. I make sure to exercise at least 4 days a week knowing that being physically active can improve your brain health. It helps you to manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, and improve your ability to do every day activities.
When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?
Oftentimes, when moving through the ups and downs of life, you can neglect caring for your mental well-being. At times like this, I allow my brain to take a break by watching a movie or a TV show on netflix.
What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?
I focus on providing the best state of the art medical care. I make sure to take the individual as a person and create a treatment plan taking into account the person as a whole. I use an evidence-based approach to pain management, tailoring treatment regimen to each individual patient rather than a “one size fits all” approach. What is one failure in your career, how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?
Early on in my career, I lacked the courage to start a medical practice on my own after finishing my fellowship at NY Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center. NY Spine Care Interventional Pain Management was formed 4 years after finishing my fellowship. I should have believed in myself and formed a private practice immediately. You should always follow your passion.

What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?
eMDs is our medical electronic medical record system. The software is an integral part of running the medical office from scheduling, medical charting, and billing.
What is the best $100 you recently spent?
On dinner with friends. It is always nice to reconnect with your friends for a social time.
Do you have a favorite book or podcast from which you’ve received much value?
Wisdom for Fathers by David Glenn. This book was an excellent resource to get you into God’s word to learn how to become a solid man of God, a successful husband, and a great father.
What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?
Cobra Kai on Netflix. Karate Kid was a movie that I really enjoyed as a kid and Cobra Kai brought back childhood memories. The music and puns on the show was very entertaining as it referenced the 1980s.
