What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?

I wake up early and get on the treadmill to go for a run. Running, yoga, and meditation keep my mind clear and help keep me productive, which is why I start every day with at least one of those. I also practice gratitude daily. I make my kids breakfast and get them ready for school. I get my kids on the school bus (they are both still in elementary school), then begin my workday. My days are always devoted to helping others, whether it be my children, family members, friends, the clients I serve, or the children that I coach.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I am a very exciting and passionate person. I often use humor to bring ideas to life. As a teacher, I learned to explain concepts to others in the way they would best understand or find interesting. I learned to cater my teaching (or general conversations) to whom I am interacting with.

What’s one trend that excites you?

I am very passionate about health and nutritional food. I do not prefer “Western” medicine. I prefer holistic and natural methods of wellness. I enjoy exercise and different types of exercise that evolve.

What is one habit that helps you be productive?

I exercise and stay organized.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would advise my younger self to care less about what other people think and to follow my own heart. I would remind my younger self that “you are enough” or “you are good enough.” Slow down and enjoy life, live in the present.

Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you on?

I believe that unhealthy foods, lack of exercise, and stress are the number one cause of disability and death. I believe that people need to eat natural food, move their bodies, and love life!

What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?

I love yoga. I believe everyone should participate in yoga. Yoga allows you to reflect, be patient, become flexible, and wash your body of toxins.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

When I am overwhelmed, I usually go for a run or do yoga. If I am unfocused, I usually make lists and begin checking things off the list. I also reflect on what is making me feel overwhelmed.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?

I have always advanced my career by continuing to be willing to participate in learning opportunities. I have a growth mindset and am always willing to learn more. I am motivated and dedicated.

What is one failure in your career,  how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

I have learned that professional boundaries are important and will always maintain them. I always see the good in people and can find it in anyone, but I learned that does not mean I should let my guard down or that I need to help anyone/everyone.

What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

I prefer not to use technology. I still live by a paper calendar/organizer, but I do utilize the calendar on my iPhone and reminder features.

Do you have a favorite book or podcast you’ve gotten a ton of value from and why?

When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron, gives you the courage to believe that things will get better and that everyone goes through hard times. Made me understand that you cannot enjoy the “highs” in life without experiencing and surviving the lows. I love all of Elin Hilderbrand novels!! I love a good beach escape when I read. I don’t typically listen to books on tape, but listening to Matthew McConaughey read Greenlights was amazing!!

What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?

I do not watch many movies/series. I do enjoy documentaries. Fed Up is one I find very interesting and am passionate about.
