Where did the idea for MEND come from?

After my partner suffered a stress fracture from running that would not heal it became apparent that none of the medical professional he consulted were speaking to him about the importance of proper targeted nutrition around injury or surgery although all the research evidence outlined it’s importance…the concept of MEND was born!

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

Today, we have managed to penetrate the two hardest markets for nutrition companies to break in to…medical channels and professional sports, so mostly my days consist of interacting in some capacity with leaders from each of these market segments to advise them how to help their patients and athletes heal better using our products.

How do you bring ideas to life?

At this point, we identify key critical areas of concern within modern medicine and research whether medical nutrition can help. After this initial investigation, we assemble our science team to collectively review the science and determine the best course of action and determine the market opportunity.

What’s one trend that excites you?

What excites as a team is that medicine and sports today really understand the value of well-researched, scientifically valid medical nutrition products and are adopting our products and protocols at such an aggressive pace.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

Up early, stay positive and set objectives/goals with a date for completion.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Be patient grasshopper

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

We have only touched the surface of how targeted regenerative nutrition can effect healing and, on a larger scale, ultimate human development and potential!

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Be resilient! No matter what happens always remember two words…great and no problem…then find out why what ever happened is great and make it no problem!!

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

Don’t listen to the naysayers….take council but forge on if you’ve done your research…believe in your vision, your team and yourself!

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

Failure is the education process of the true entrepreneur! Don’t get discouraged…pick yourself up, find a reason everyday to be positive and enthusiastic and lead from the front! Take risks…you don’t score if you never take the shot!

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I think someone needs to create a “no phone zone” social environment whether a lounge, juice bar or what have you to keep the human interaction and emotional intelligence in society for real fulfillment. Technology is great and valid however, people really matter most of all!

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

My good friend was dying of cancer and I gave him more than $100 for a romantic dinner with the love of his life. He died not long after…it was literally the best money I have ever spent.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

Our CRM system Hubspot and LinkedIn. Hubspot to keep track of all our leads and customers and LinkedIn to publish announcements and press releases mostly.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill. The father of personal development which I have read or listened to over 30 times in it’s entirety…it’s wisdom is timeless and has changed as a person.

What is your favorite quote?

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Marianne Williamson
