What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?

I typically wake up at 5 am. Start my day with meditation and gratitude. After some light stretching, I head out for a power walk with my three dogs. Serve breakfast to all my pets upon our return from the walk, and then I head up to the barn to feed and ride my horses. After returning home, I get myself ready for work. My office is a three- minute drive. I generally have appointments with clients or I visit clients at their homes or places of employment. Generally, by 5 pm, I’m home and get in a quick workout with weights or Peloton. In the summer, I love to go for a power walk along the lake. I eat dinner with my husband, children and pets around 6:30 pm. Evening is spent catching up on work emails, reading a great book or listening to Tony Robbins. I try to go to bed at a decent hour to make sure I get enough rest for the next day.

How do you bring ideas to life?

When at work, I genuinely listen to my clients and try to understand what they want to achieve. From there, I take a very practical approach. I map out strategies that are both creative and realistic for designing a tailored insurance and investment plan. I break down complex terms into actionable, clear steps so my clients feel empowered. I put a lot of thoughtful planning into creating real solutions that give my clients peace of mind and confidence in their future.

What’s one trend that excites you?

One trend that excites me is the growing focus on personalization in financial services. People want insurance plans that reflect their goals, their families, and their lifestyles. I’ve always believed in treating my clients like family, so seeing the industry move toward more tailored and client-centered approaches really energizes me. On a personal level, I also love how technology is giving people more tools and information at their fingertips, which helps them feel more confident and in control of their future. Anything that makes financial planning more human and more empowering is a step in
the right direction.

What is one habit that helps you be productive?

I keep an organized to-do list every single day. I write down tasks and prioritize them by importance so I know what needs to be done first. This helps me stay focused and avoid getting pulled in too many directions. When I finish the most important things early, I feel accomplished, and that carries me through the rest of my day. Structure creates freedom for me, because it means I can be fully present with my clients and my family without feeling scattered.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to be patient and trust the process. It is so easy to get caught up in wanting everything to happen quickly, but growth takes time. Every obstacle I have faced has taught me something valuable and made me stronger in both my personal and professional life. I would also remind her that it’s okay to mess up, because the lessons you take from mistakes are often more important than the wins.
Most of all, I’d tell her to enjoy life and not be so hard on herself.

Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you on?

I believe insurance is about supporting and celebrating your life instead of just protecting your assets. A lot of people think of insurance as transactional and boring, something you check off a list and never think about again. It’s the opposite for me. Insurance represents security, love, and peace of mind for the people you care about most. It’s not a glamorous industry by any means, but I see it as deeply personal and life-affirming in the sense that it gives people the freedom to live courageously, knowing they’re protected.

What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?

I regularly check in with myself and consider what is and isn’t working in my life. This could be something with work, my relationships, or my personal routines. Pausing helps me course-correct before small problems become big ones. This also helps me stay aligned with my values and ensures I’m not just going through the motions. I want to live intentionally. I think everyone could benefit from taking time to step back and honestly assess where they are and where they want to go.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

If I have a stressful, long day at work, I typically like to unwind by spending time with my animals and my family. Cuddling with one of my house pets, taking care of my horses, or enjoying a quiet home-cooked meal or game night with my husband and kids helps me reset. I am a proud family woman, and being surrounded by my loved ones brings me a lot of joy.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?

I prioritize building authentic, long-term client relationships. I find joy in making people happy, so I consistently strive to offer exceptional customer service. I go the extra mile to make sure my clients feel heard and cared for. This approach has allowed me to cultivate strong customer connections, leading to referrals, repeat business, and a stronger community presence. I believe people can always tell when you genuinely care, and that has been a big part of my career growth.

What is one failure in your career,  how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

One of my biggest career failures was trying to do everything myself and saying yes to everyone. I thought that was what it took to prove myself, but it left me exhausted and stretched too thin. I overcame it by learning to set boundaries and focus on the clients and opportunities that matched my values. The lesson I took from that was that success is not about quantity but quality. Once I made that shift, I found more balance and built stronger, more rewarding relationships.

What is one business idea you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I think there’s a huge opportunity in creating a service that combines financial planning with wellness coaching. Too often, people think of their Financial Health as completely separate from their mental and physical health. But the truth is, they are deeply connected. Money stress impacts well-being, and poor well-being can impact financial decisions. A holistic service that addresses both sides could help people feel stronger, more balanced, and more in control of their lives.

What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

I use my calendar software more than anything else. It allows me to organize my days with time blocks for meetings, planning, and personal commitments. I use it to stay on top of appointments but also to protect my own time so that I’m not constantly reacting to everyone else’s schedule. This helps me create balance between work and family life, while also making sure I deliver on my promises to clients. It’s a simple tool that makes a big difference.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?/

The best $100 I spent recently was on a new leather halter for one of my horses. It may sound small, but it was meaningful to me. My horses bring me so much joy, peace, and grounding, so treating them with something that’s both useful and beautiful felt rewarding. Every time I use it, I’m reminded of how important it is to invest in the things and beings that bring you happiness.

Do you have a favorite book or podcast you’ve gotten a ton of value from and why?

One book that impacted me is The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek. It changed how I think about success. Instead of focusing on short-term wins, the book reminded me that the goal is to keep moving forward and building for the long run. That applies to business, family, and life. It reinforced my belief that growth is about consistent effort and purpose over time.

What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?

I recently enjoyed watching The Crown. I have always been interested in history, and the series does a beautiful job of showing the human side of leadership, family, and duty. Seeing how people in the highest positions still face personal struggles and difficult decisions really stood out to me. It made me consider how much character matters, no matter what stage of life you are in. The show was entertaining and thought- provoking.
