Manush Ravi Prame

Founder of MRP Services

Manush Ravi Prame is a philanthropist and businessman based in New York City. MRP Services, his commercial cleaning company, has grown to be one of the leading providers of specialized cleaning services in the US. MRP Cleaning Solutions is eco-friendly, meeting all green cleaning compliance guidelines required by clients.

Manush attended Hyderabad Public School before attending the University of Illinois to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He started his own company in 2007 after working as a Software Engineer at Hexaware Technologies.

MRP Services is the country’s top provider of special commercial cleaning services. MRP is devoted to delivering eco-friendly cleaning solutions for both residential and business users wanting a healthy living environment, employing modern technology. MRP takes pleasure in being able to give sustainable solutions to its clients at no cost by reusing materials that would otherwise be discarded, resulting in significant savings for their clients.

Manush’s Waterless Car Wash System has a patent and has been commended for its environmentally friendly approach to car cleaning. He and his staff worked extensively to build a system that utilizes little to no water since his firm seeks to give more environmentally friendly cleaning options. His team’s cost-effective and time-efficient automobile washing service was well-received. The system does not pollute the water since it uses non-toxic cleaning chemicals. Additionally, by utilizing this technology, they are urging car owners to save water.

Manush spends his leisure time mentoring young people in New York City and supporting domestic violence initiatives in addition to being a CEO. The Rotary International has awarded Manush the Bronze Award for 2017. He also supports groups that provide shelter, counseling, medical care, and other assistance to domestic violence victims.

Where did the idea for MRP Services come from?

MRP Services started in 2007 after I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. Many people ask why I started this kind of business and not a traditional business. Cleaning services were not common in 2007. I thought of pioneering the industry and so I started MRP Services.

MRP stands for Manush Ravi Prame, and MRP Services started because I wanted to create something I could be proud of. MRP Services is an environmentally responsible firm providing cleaning services to residential homes and commercial buildings across the United States. MRP Services has made it possible for people to enjoy clean environments free of chemical residues that can potentially affect their health or create issues with allergies or asthma.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

A typical day for me would start at MRP Services. I get there early in the morning and start checking emails, preparing reports, etc. I am also on the phone with clients, researching new technologies that will help MRP Services provide better services to its clients, tours of our facilities around the country, etc. Just thinking that I had so many things to do makes me productive. I get all my work done on weekdays and have a fun-filled weekend.

How do you bring ideas to life?

When I have an idea, I write it down in my notebook. I then do research on that topic or technology if MRP Services does not have that capacity. Once the research is complete, the MRP staff comes up with a plan of action to execute the idea. MRP Services has various departments including Sales, Project Execution, Marketing, etc. which are crucial for our success since each division can contribute toward executing an idea or project better than expected.

What’s one trend that excites you?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are two major trends that excite me as they will help drive the next-generation digital economy by making businesses more efficient and productive while providing unlimited opportunities to the human race. MRP Services will play a significant role in transforming businesses and society through automation and AI/ML technologies.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I love reading since I believe it makes me smarter and thus more productive. It has helped me tremendously while launching MRP Services and growing MRP Services. The MRP Team also does not shy away from learning new things so we can be even better at what we do for our clients.

What advice would you give your younger self?

When MRP Services first started, I was worried and worried and worried. Or as the MRP Team often says: “I need to make MRP work.” But those were times when MRP didn’t know how big it would become. All this worrying slowed down our progress, but we still made it here today. So my advice to my younger self would be: Don’t worry as much as you do now and focus on executing your idea well with a good team of people who think logically rather than emotionally.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

People don’t give much importance to the cleaning process as they don’t see how household chemicals affect the environment. Most people are not environmentally conscious. MRP Services has made it possible for them to be so by providing eco-friendly cleaning services that help MRP clients save money, improve their productivity at work, and have a clean place to live without worrying about chemical residues.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

I come up with ideas to solve problems and make MRP a better company. MRP is over 10 years old now and it has seen its share of issues at different stages. But coming up with solutions for these problems helps us learn from them, adapt better, improve the services we are offerings, etc. I recommend all entrepreneurs should do this as doing so will help you grow your business/brand quicker than expected while helping people overcome their issues at the same time.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

We found our niche market in providing commercial cleaning services to businesses across the US and then cultivated relationships with clients by providing an unparalleled level of customer service while providing eco-friendly cleaning solutions. MRP Services is now one of the leading providers of specialized commercial cleaning services in the US, and MRP’s founding team has won several awards for our contribution to society by delivering eco-friendly cleaning services that are not just cost-effective but also help clients save time/money at work, increase MRP clients’ productivity, etc.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

In the middle of MRP Services’ initial days, MRP was dealing with a tough time as we had invested heavily into our first new cleaning team and MRP didn’t have enough clients to cover the operating expenses. MRP’s founding team faced a lot of pressure from investors to reduce spending for MRP to break even. But something inside those four walls told everyone not to give up as we believed in our potential. Instead of trying to cut costs, we started working towards increasing our revenues so that we could quit worrying about money and focus on what mattered most: serving clients better.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

There are a lot of business ideas that can be found online, but I want to emphasize that it’s not always about starting your own brand. You can partner with bigger companies and learn business strategies. You’ll have more ideas as you work with them, and when you’re ready to venture on your own, you have what you need to succeed. MRP Services partnered with bigger companies to learn more about how we could serve our clients better. We were initially nervous about being subservient to our partners but we realized that MRP would have the opportunity to learn from these brands and, most importantly, we would be able to contribute toward MRP’s client base through our partnership with them.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

I took MRP Team out for lunch at a restaurant where I ordered extra food to take home even if MRP didn’t eat all of it prior to leaving. It wasn’t very expensive, but it was worth every penny as everyone on MRP Team loves good food.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

We use Google Suite it has everything we need from MRP Services and MRP clients and it is very easy to manage MRP’s tasks/projects with the help of Google Docs, Gmail, etc.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

I would recommend Peter Thiel’s Zero To One as it teaches how entrepreneurs can think outside the box when they launch a business to stand out from the crowd.

What is your favorite quote?

“I learned courage by having overcome my fears.” – Nelson Mandela. This quote reminds me that MRP’s approach towards life is to learn from mistakes and grow as a person/company.

Key Learnings:

  • Entrepreneurs should not be afraid of making mistakes as doing so is what helps them grow their businesses.
  • Startups need to focus on increasing revenue generation rather than focusing on cutting costs if they want to become successful quickly or at all.
  • In order to overcome any challenge that you face, the best thing to do is to be patient and focus on solving problems by learning from past mistakes.
