What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

My days are busy! I am either in court, communicating with clients or other criminal defense attorneys about cases, preparing for hearings/trials, meeting with experts or reviewing evidence. The lesson that I have learned is to keep a schedule and meet deadlines.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I bring ideas to life by following through with them. I have found that one of the best ways to make something come true is to work diligently towards making it happen even if it takes a long time. It’s always worth the effort.

What’s one trend that excites you?

The tech advances that allow us to work from anywhere, anytime.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I make sure to eat healthy and stay fit – both physically and mentally. Also, focus! Without focus we accomplish little to nothing worthwhile.

What advice would you give your younger self?

To take more chances and risks in life.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

Everybody makes a mistake. Most people arrested Drunk Driving are first time offenders and do not repeat.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Be early and prepared for all court proceedings.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

Mastered my field of expertise. It took me some time to learn the legal and scientific aspects of representing people arrested for DUI, either alcohol or drugs. After decades of practice, I’m still taking the time to learn new developments.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

The thing is everyone has failures and successes in business. However, failure is an opportunity to learn and grow. Every time you fail, it will make the next attempt that much stronger.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

An online legal search engine where consumers can type in their legal matter and receive a list of attorneys who specialize in the subject matter along with testimonials from other clients who have used the attorney’s services. This would be very helpful for the “lay person” who has no idea where to start when looking for an attorney.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

Abacus calendar program. We’ve been using this program for a very long time. It’s reliable and has a great format. The printed version is easy to read and use for future date references. It also has other applications that allows us to keep track of all our cases.

What is your favorite quote?

My favorite quote is something that people say to me when we meet – “Friends Don’t Let Friends Plead Guilty!”™ People have been hearing me say that in my radio and TV commercials since the mid-nineties.

Key Learnings:

  • Failure is part of life and critical to growth.
  • Take risks and chances in life.
  • Everything we do, we do for a reason.
