He further diversified his portfolio with Premier Laundry in 2011, demonstrating his knack for identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities. In 2015, he founded LINENTECH, a commercial laundry management software, and in 2018, launched The Staffer, a cloud-based platform for staffing in the hospitality industry.

What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?

My day begins with a quick review of my tasks and objectives. Prioritization and discipline are key; I allocate specific times for emails, meetings, and focused work sessions. Staying productive means minimizing distractions and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, ensuring that both my team and I are aligned with our goals. Beyond the early review and prioritization of tasks, I ensure to inject moments of creative thinking and strategic planning into my day. Engaging with my team for brainstorming sessions helps spark new ideas and keeps everyone motivated. Ending my day with a reflection on the achievements and areas for improvement ensures constant growth and productivity.

How do you bring ideas to life?

Ideas come to life through collaboration and iterative development. I believe in sharing initial concepts with my team, gathering feedback, and then refining the idea. This collaborative approach, combined with a lean startup methodology, allows us to experiment, learn quickly from failures, and pivot when necessary. After the initial brainstorming and feedback phase, we prototype quickly to test our ideas in real-world scenarios. This hands-on approach allows us to iterate rapidly based on user feedback, ensuring our final product or service truly meets market needs. Celebrating small milestones during this process keeps the team motivated and focused on our collective vision.

What’s one trend that excites you?

The integration of AI and machine learning in everyday business processes excites me. The potential for these technologies to enhance decision-making, personalize customer experiences, and improve operational efficiency is immense, and I’m keen on exploring their applications in my ventures. Beyond its immediate applications, AI’s potential to democratize access to information and services across global markets is truly revolutionary. I’m particularly excited about how AI can be leveraged to create more sustainable and efficient businesses, reducing waste and optimizing resource use. The idea of AI assisting in solving complex global challenges, such as climate change and education, is both inspiring and motivating.

What is one habit that helps you be productive?

Setting daily goals. Each morning, I outline what I need to achieve by the end of the day. This practice keeps me focused and ensures that I’m always progressing towards larger objectives. Additionally, this habit encourages a culture of accountability within my team, as we align our daily goals towards our bigger mission. Regularly revisiting these goals throughout the day ensures we remain on track and can make adjustments as needed. This habit also fosters a sense of accomplishment and progress, crucial for long-term motivation.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Be patient and persistent. Success doesn’t come overnight; it’s a culmination of consistent effort, learning from failures, and adapting to change. I’d also stress the importance of networking and building relationships from the start. Connections can open doors you never knew existed. Finally, I’d remind my younger self to enjoy the journey, not just the destination, because real growth happens during the challenges you face along the way.

Tell us something you believe almost nobody agrees with you on?

I believe that businesses often overlook the importance of customer service in driving technological innovation. True innovation should enhance customer experiences, not just operational efficiency or profitability. This principle challenges conventional wisdom but encourages innovation that genuinely meets customers’ evolving needs. It’s about creating a symbiotic relationship between technological advancement and customer satisfaction. Such a belief drives my ventures to not just innovate for the sake of innovation but to do so with purpose and direction.

What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?

Reflect on your failures as much as your successes. Reflection enables learning and growth, providing insights that can guide future decisions and strategies. Moreover, this practice encourages mindfulness and gratitude, which are essential for mental health and overall well-being. It’s a simple yet profound way to stay grounded and focused on what truly matters. I believe it cultivates resilience, especially in the face of the inevitable challenges entrepreneurship brings.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

I take a step back and go for a walk or meditate. These activities help clear my mind, allowing me to approach problems with a fresh perspective and renewed focus. This method of ‘resetting’ has proven invaluable, allowing me to approach problems with a calm mind and a fresh perspective. I also find discussing challenges with mentors or peers can provide new insights and alleviate the feeling of being overwhelmed. Journaling my thoughts and concerns is another tactic I use to declutter my mind and regain focus.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career?

Building strong networks. Cultivating relationships within and outside your industry can open doors to new opportunities, partnerships, and insights that are invaluable for growth. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team ensures that everyone is aligned with this growth mindset. Encouraging open communication and feedback has also been instrumental in identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation. This strategy has not only propelled my business forward but also facilitated personal growth by constantly challenging me to evolve.

What is one failure in your career,  how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?

An early venture failed due to my lack of market research. I overcame this by embracing the failure as a learning opportunity, which taught me the importance of thorough market analysis and understanding customer needs before launching a product or service. The journey to recovery involved taking a step back to reassess our approach, engaging more deeply with our customers to understand their needs better. This experience taught me the value of resilience and the importance of building a flexible business model that can adapt to change. It also underscored the importance of customer feedback in shaping our products and services.

What is one business idea you’re willing to give away to our readers?

A platform that connects small businesses with local influencers for marketing partnerships. This can democratize marketing for small enterprises, giving them access to targeted audiences without the need for large advertising budgets. This platform could use AI to match businesses with influencers in their niche, optimizing marketing efforts and budget allocation. It’s a win-win: businesses gain visibility, while influencers have a steady stream of partnerships. This idea, if executed well, could revolutionize small business marketing, making it more accessible and effective.

What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?

Trello is invaluable for managing projects and tasks across teams. It allows us to track progress, assign responsibilities, and maintain transparency in our workflows. This organized approach allows me to keep my focus on what matters most and ensures nothing falls through the cracks. Integrating this tool into daily team meetings has also improved our project coordination and efficiency. Trello’s flexibility and user-friendly interface make it a powerful tool for managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

“The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries has been incredibly influential, offering insights into building agile businesses that can adapt and thrive in uncertain markets. Its principles guide much of my approach to entrepreneurship. Its emphasis on customer feedback and rapid iteration has influenced how I approach product development and market entry. The book has been a guidepost for navigating the complexities of launching new ventures and scaling them successfully. It reinforces the importance of agility and responsiveness in today’s fast-paced business environment.

I recently enjoyed “The Social Network” again. Beyond its entertainment value, it offers lessons on innovation, ambition, and the complexities of founding a tech startup, resonating with my entrepreneurial spirit.
