Where did the idea for Yegi Beauty come from?

I began my career in the business world, building up extensive experience in accounting. However, I’ve always had a passion for beauty, which led me to get my cosmetology license in high school. After several years working in the corporate world, I decided to unite my experience and my love for beauty by launching a new career as an eyelash technician entrepreneur. I recognized that the new trend of eyelash extensions was a growing opportunity, so I opened a salon in Burbank, CA, in 2015. Following its incredible success, I launched the eCommerce portion of my business in 2018.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

As a busy entrepreneur, my day starts early! I keep a consistent morning routine, which allows me to get to work early and accomplish all the tasks I have in a day. My typical day can vary considerably; when I’m traveling promoting the business, it can include a fair amount of driving and flying. While on the road, I stay productive by taking care of paperwork, emails, and other administrative tasks. If I’m leading an on-site class, my day is centered around teaching, after which I often stay longer to answer any further questions my students may have.

How do you bring ideas to life?

One key characteristic that’s necessary to bring ideas to life is determination. Having a vision is important, but to make it actually happen, you have to be willing to put in the hard work. My outstanding work ethic has allowed me to make Yegi Beauty a success.

What’s one trend that excites you?

The increasing trend toward more and more people seeking to be their own boss excites me! I love seeing women and men taking their careers into their own hands, and I’m so glad that our classes help future entrepreneurs achieve their goals.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

One of my key tips for productivity is keeping a consistent morning routine! I get up early, have a healthy breakfast, and get to work without being distracted by social media or technology. Starting early helps me get to work early and accomplish work more efficiently, which also allows me to keep a healthier work-life balance.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to keep on going! All your hard work is going to pay off; the experience you gain in your business career will help you to achieve your passion for beauty in ways you would never imagine.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

One thing that almost nobody agrees with me on is the fact that I believe I can have a successful business without physically being present at the physical address. Most people think a small business will fail if the owner is not there day in and day out. But I know that, if there are correct systems put in place, then it will be successful.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Help the people who are coming behind you! Using my success to help others is one of my deepest values. I love getting to use my experience to help others achieve their dreams. What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

Gaining a following on social media is crucial. Our YouTube channel especially got our name out there in an incredible way – our supportive and friendly attitude helped many aspiring lash techs, and it also won us phenomenal brand loyalty! Using technological resources to help others is one of the best ones to expand your brand.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

One failure was trying to add a fashion line to my business while the beauty aspect of the business was still new. My customers were confused and the fashion line did not prosper. I immediately had to forget about the expansion and keep my focus on the beauty aspect. I overcame it by realizing that staying focused and abandoning an idea is necessary in business.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

If you’re passionate about beauty, starting a salon is always a great option. Sure, it can be risky starting your own business, but the benefits are huge. I took a risk on eyelash extensions when they were still considered a fad, and I’ve had such an amazing payoff! Current beauty trends like microbiome skincare and clean beauty are important developments in the beauty industry, and investing in those areas could be a very fruitful approach.

The best $100 I recently spent is on a massage, because it allowed me to let go of stress and just focus on myself.

YouTube is an amazing resource! The videos I’ve posted on our channel have helped gain us a following that is crucial to our success, and it’s allowed us to help so many aspiring young eyelash technicians and salon entrepreneurs.
