Based in Freehold, New Jersey, Howard Davner is the CEO of Beverage USA Holdings, Inc. As CEO and Co-Founder of the company, Howard controls daily operations while also overseeing the overall branding of the company. Since June 2020, Howard has been working towards evolving the company into a leading national brand in the functional beverage space. Howard Davner has been a business-minded individual throughout his entire life. Before beginning his career, Howard attended the University of South Florida and graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Economics. This education helped play a pivotal role in shaping him into the business-minded individual that he is today.
In his youth, Howard Davner always knew he was destined to be an entrepreneur. Whether he was running a paper route or mowing lawns, Howard spent his childhood wrapped up in the world of entrepreneurship. Throughout his college years, Howard even ran a valet business to make some extra cash.
After graduating from university, Howard went to have a lengthy and successful career on Wall Street. From 2000 to 2013, Howard Davner worked for Goldman Sachs on Wall Street, growing his responsibilities immensely from when he first began. During this time, Howard quickly earned promotions and eventually became the Vice President. His entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to play an instrumental role in the company’s growth, resulting in him building a solid resume of accomplishments.
Throughout his extensive career on Wall Street, Howard Davner built an impressive portfolio of accomplishments. On Wall Street he earned a particular reputation for himself, soon becoming known for continuously handling increasing responsibilities by earning a fast-track promotion to New York Stock Exchange market maker and, ultimately, the team captain. When Howard became the top revenue producer, he had direct oversight of ten stocks with a daily trading volume of five million shares, achieved top producer ranking for generating over three million dollars in annual trading profits and more.
Many would view Wall Street as the end game, especially for someone as accomplished and successful as Howard. However, for Howard, his experience only launched him further into the world of business. He extended his expertise and embraced his entrepreneurial passion by going on to begin his own banking firm that specialized in working with Small Caps and Micro-Cap companies. In addition to this career venture, Howard Davner also went on to become CEO of a $100 million lending fund before taking over as CEO of Nerd Focus, an energy drink under the parent company Beverage USA Holdings, Inc.

Howard’s knowledge expands to financial instruments, market structure, macroeconomic theory, and monetary policy, as well as trading technology and portfolio construction techniques.

Where did the idea for your career come from?
I was looking for an investment vehicle to acquire brands that had great potential but needed capital and structure to succeed. I am the Co-Founder of Beverage USA LLC. My partner and I were looking for private equity opportunities that we can add significant value to with our financial backgrounds.
What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?
Being a Co-Founder of an emerging brand I wear many hats. My day typically starts early morning when I review all my emails and read about relevant industry news, I then typically have several sales calls with our distributors and retail partners. Each day my partner and I discuss the day’s events and any other pertinent topics we need to cover. I typically end my day with a call with the team to discuss sales and strategy.
How do you bring ideas to life?
Creativity is so important in this industry. You must focus on who your customer is and what the best way to convince them this product is for them. As a C level executive, it is so important to listen to your team and make decisions that may be outside your comfort zone.
What’s one trend that excites you?
The Functional Beverage business is growing so much that retailers are creating new space in the vault for these new products.
What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?
Risk Tolerance. I have always been able to take calculated risks and pivot if something changes.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Work hard, be patient and always trust yourself in the life decisions you make.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?
I continue to learn each and every day. I spend 2 hours a night reading industry pertinent articles. You always want to be ahead of what your competitors are doing.

We have done a great job with using all our relationships we have established over the last 25 years to help us grow.
What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?
As an entrepreneur, you will fail but it’s important to realize that failure, learn from your mistakes, and get back to what you do best.
What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?
Anything in robotics, technology, and blockchain: this is the future of our Country.
What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?
I spent $100 on two dozen roses for my wife. Thanking her for all her support and understanding. As an executive of this company I put in long hours and travel often.
What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?
We use SOS which is a platform that allows us to create PO’s and invoices as well as track inventory.
What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?
“Talent is Never Enough” by John Maxwell. Obtaining and keeping Talent is always the biggest challenge facing executives in every industry. The book asks the question of whether talent is really the key to being successful.
