Where did the idea for your career come from?

I always knew that I wanted to get into a profession where I could make a positive difference. As a dentist, I am helping others improve their oral health, which often leads to enhanced overall health and improved self-confidence. Dentistry is always changing and evolving. We utilize the latest advancements in technology, but we are always searching for ways to further improve our patient care. I consider myself both an educator and a lifelong learner.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

My days are mostly tending to patients and performing routine services, such as x-rays, orientations, and follow-up appointments. We understand that each individual is different, so every treatment is catered to their specific needs. Our practice specializes in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics, and we are committed to providing the highest quality care. We all work collaboratively and value each other’s ideas. I would not be where I am today without the help of my wife and an outstanding team of employees.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I have the pleasure of working alongside my wife, Dr. Nazli Keri. She is a wonderful doctor and business partner. We work extremely well together and if I have an idea, I typically run it by her first. We both value open communication, and I think that’s why our business model works so well.

What’s one trend that excites you?

Advanced orthodontic treatments. While traditional braces will certainly realign your teeth, they are also time-consuming, painful, and often lead to tooth discoloration. At my practice, we offer AADvance braces, which consist of rhodium-coated brackets that gently move teeth into their proper place. Our innovative product will ensure that your teeth are corrected within months instead of years.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I always do my best to maintain a daily schedule. When I am not taking appointments, I am preparing for my week ahead or following up with my patients. I try to do as much as I can throughout the day, so that when I come home I can recharge. I think it is essential to take breaks and tend to both your mental and physical well-being.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell myself to establish boundaries. As a business owner it is easy to get caught up working additional hours, but this can often lead to fatigue and burnout. I do my best to step away from my work at the end of the day and instead spend time with my family and loved ones.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

Do not follow the guidelines set out by other highly successful individuals, instead, find what works best for you and create your own path to success.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Take care of your mind and body. I find that daily exercise is a great stress reliever and a way to focus your attention elsewhere after a long day at work. Likewise, do not be afraid to try new things. New experiences often lead to new professional opportunities.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

The global pandemic forced our offices to change our hours for an extended period of time, which made us re-evaluate several of our marketing strategies. We made sure we were visible on various social media platforms so patients were aware of any closures or changes to our policies.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

When I first established my business I had difficulty managing my time. As a young business owner I wanted to do everything myself, so it was hard for me to delegate some of my responsibilities. However, now as an experienced professional I understand the importance of working as a team. Most successful businesses are the result of communication and teamwork.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

I would have to say, possibly a dental app, that helps you keep track of appointments and overall oral health. Oral diseases are some of the most common yet preventable conditions, so it is important to remain educated.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

I recently gave a monetary donation to a local charitable organization. I encourage anyone with the time or resources to get involved anyway they can, especially now during the holiday season.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

Recently I have been using an app called TimeTree. It helps me stay on top of my schedule and is really valuable in terms of enhancing my productivity.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us” by Daniel H. Pink. The author dives deep into what he believes are the ultimate motivating factors.
