Five Questions with Ralitsa Kiskinova

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Ralitsa, which translates to “Larkspur,” a type of wild mountain flower and not a bad way of describing myself. By day, I am a digital strategists specializing in social media and by night, I am an animator/graphic designer. On weekends, I am an explorer seeking new adventures.

How do you bring ideas to life?

There are 3 ingredients that I usually need to make my ideas come alive. The first one is inspiration, which I get from the places I love and the activities that clear my mind. The second ingredient is passion, for which I still do not know the exact formula, so I just listen to my heart. The third one is solid knowledge. If I want to create something and be responsible for it, I need to live and breathe it.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

With all my heart, I would recommend The Alchemist by Paolo Coehlo. I find that every time I re-read this book I learn something new about my surroundings and about myself. Also, this book doesn’t tell you what you should believe in, what you should be, etc., but makes you look into yourself and find out how you impact everything that happens around you.

What is one piece of advice that you’d like to give?

Always try to stay positive. Positivity for me is this bubbly energy that keeps us going and focusing on all of the good things that have been or are yet to come. Positivity also makes me believe in my ideas and bring them to life no matter what the odds are!

What is one idea that you’re going to bring to life in 2012?

I want to try bareback horseback riding and make a short animated film based on the experience. Horses have been an inspiration, a dream and a favorite activity of mine for many years now, so I feel it is time to try something new and recreate it in a different form of art!
