Where did the idea for Make SHT Happen come from?

After working at Forbes 500 companies for 15 years in Sales & Recruiting, I burnt out and wanted to launch my own company! I launched Let’s Get You Organized because I’ve always been a very organized, timely, and productive person.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

I love time blocking and using Google Calendar to schedule my success. I work out every single morning at a local High Intensity Interval Training class based gym. I drink one cup of coffee and make a protein shake after my workout and then dive in to work at my home office or at my coworking office. I help business owners organize their brands and lay foundational structures to help their companies grow and scale! I love what I do and I try to make it never feel like “work.”

How do you bring ideas to life?

I am an implementor and executor. I’m an Enneagram 1 and an INTJ. I let myself take messy, imperfect action and I believe that action cures fear.

What’s one trend that excites you?

I have built most of my business on Instagram! I love the platform and I’ve built an amazing engaged community there.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I practice the 80/20 rule. Take a piece of paper and write your biggest business wins on the right hand side. On the left side, write down the tasks you spend time completing every day. Then, draw a line from the task to the win it helped achieve. The tasks with the most lines are where you should spend the most time. Remember the 80/20 rule: Twenty percent of your daily activities directly correlate to 80 percent of your achieved results.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Stop caring what others think! It’s taken me some time to cut the anchors and limiting beliefs of my corporate bosses, my ex boyfriends and roommates, and my parents.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

I believe in the abundance of the universe and that mindset is EVERYTHING in entrepreneurship!

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Consistent content creation to get in front of your ideal client avatar! You have to speak your clients’ language and make sure they see and hear from you EVERY DAY to stay top of mind so that when it comes time to sell, you’ve built that Know Like Trust factor.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

I’ve invested in mentors and coaches throughout my entire time as an entrepreneur. Finding mentorship is crucial for upleveling, breaking through limiting beliefs, and embracing change. ⁣

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

In my first year in business I netted a profit, but not without going through a grueling tax filing process! I should have set up an accounting software, a payrolling service, a separate business account and a relationship with an accountant as soon as I stepped into entrepreneurship, but I waited about a year to get everything in place. Now I know better!

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

The on demand economy is growing at a rapid rate- I could see success in any service that you can provide that gives millennials instant gratification of something they want and need! Think apps, easy “at your door” services and products, and subscription boxes.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

I am consistently buying new business books to further my education as an entrepreneur and constantly learn new things. I typically keep a running list of books I have heard great things about, then hop over to Amazon and make a big purchase.

My 10 most recent books: You Are a Badass, You Are a Badass at Making Money, The Big Leap, The $100 Startup, The Art of NonConformity, Crushing It, The E-Myth, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Traction, and Profit First.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

I love project management software like Trello or Asana to keep my SMART goals top of mind and my projects and deliverables organized and easy to keep track of at all times.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

My favorite book is the Big Leap by Gay Hendricks because it’s all about staying in your Zone of Genius to have a profitable business. Delegate and outsource what you are not good at!

What is your favorite quote?

“Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better.”
— Jim Rohn
